Loose piece on slide out

There is an L-shaped about 16" long piece of metal that belongs on the slide out along the bottom that has come loose. There is a rubber-like material under it. No screw holes.
What kind of adhesive is recommended to reattach that part? Many thanks.

Sikaflex adhesive and three pop rivets. That's they way Chris Snyder fixed mine. Never has come loose!

This is a common issue on these slide outs and if not fixed water gets inside and travels into the coach onto the floor. Clean the area underneath as best as you can the apply some poly urethane adhesive (SikkaFlex or Bostick), then take some small pop rivets ( about 5 of them) to secure it to the corner of the slide room them take some clear silicone sealant and seal the top edge.

Good fix! Your advice to Tom is right on target. We are currently traveling the Oregon Coast and the rain has been testing every possible crevice for entry. I called Dave Rousey, Stylworks RV Repair, Sweet Home, Oregon to re-seal the upper joint between the slide out skin and the frame. With this done, I thought we were going to be OK. But, that only solved leak #1. Then, our floor got wet in another storm. It was driving me crazy. Especially, because I was in the window business for over 25 years and had examined the sources of hundreds of rain leaks over that time.
I called Fritz Gillespie, one of our CC. forum buddies, for help as he owns a coach only a few coach numbers later than mine. He advised me to seal the same trim moldings that you discussed here. Then, armed with the knowledge of where to look, I examined these moldings. I detected the adhesive had failed on one of the the bottom moldings. This created an almost imperceptible crevice between the molding and the slide out skin. This small crack was acting as a tiny eave trough that allowed a small but very annoying amount of rain to seep in and soak our carpet.
I re-sealed with Sikaflex. It rained this morning and so far, the leaking seems to have been arrested. When I get to a place where the sun shines, I will do the riveting to secure these four moldings permanently.

One question: Kevin, did you apply the rivets into the vertical face of the "J" molding (the short leg) where it shows..... or on the invisible return (long) leg?

I had good luck with 3M 5200 and used SS screws instead of rivets. I did not have my rivet gear available. Now that I do, I'm still not going to remove the screws to do the riveting, bond looks very solid. Leaving well enough alone for now. I do need to cut off and do a better job on the edge seal bead I ran the first time. No too worried about this, as the 3M 5200 is well applied and squeezed out when I snugged everything together so I feel it is water tight.

You install the rivets on the side of the molding that shows, you will not need them on the bottom of the molding. I usually install one rivet at each end, then one in the middle & then one more in the middle of the first three ( 5 Total )

Hi Friend, On our 99 Allure the Skin at the top if the single Street slide out started working away and a four foot seal opend at the rear upper top. I pulled off the Awning topper and removed the Slide out upper black rubber seal and saw this gap. I used SS Steel screws not pretty to work the skin back in place and scrapped off the old cauking the ran two Tubes of silicone sealer and reapplyed the Black seal in the not dryed yet silicone. Let dry a few days went up on the roof with a garden hose and no water leaks. Our coachs are similar. I always look at other units like ours and see no skin seperating like ours did. Been several years and no leaks. Be carful and clamp the Slide out arms if you remove the slide out topper awning! Keep us posted on your findings! Ken 99 Allure 30356

Another possible solution suggested by Jake at Premier is to re-attach with Urethane Sealant....but first "rough up" (abrade) the two surfaces being bonded.
Seems our slides were manufactured before they figured out they were not doing it correctly. Supposedly they restructured the department once they figured it out...but no recall of course.

Bad news is, if one comes off, odds are they will all come off.

Thanks for your input. So far, my simple fix seems to have solved the leak. However, we have not yet tested it in a torrential rain storm. We will be on the Oregon and Washington coast for another three weeks and I am assuming we will get another downpour sooner or later.
Thanks for giving me the advantage of your experience. If I continue to see leaking I will know where to look next.
It is very gratifying to know that we have the support of the fine folks in this forum!

We just had these leaking slide L angles repaired at CCC last week. Kevin provided good advice for the repairs, there is one other issue. The L angles are SS - they advise the Sikaflex sealant sticks great to everything except for SS. The repair is to remove the angles, clean off the old sealant, rough up the inside surface with a wire wheel, paint the inside with an adhesive primer, then apply new sealant and pop rivet back into place. The sealant was failing on all four slides - there were several new '09 coaches in the service bays undergoing PDI's while were there, advised they were all having this slide repair done prior to shipment.

I just want to jump in here to state that, irrespective of my other negative comments about the service facility at the revived Country Coach facility, Mr. Emmanuel did in fact find that not only had the forward piece of this moulding come loose, the rearward piece was missing. A responsible fix was immediately applied, with which I am completely satisfied.

I think what we may need to do here is to codify those repairs of which we think CC Junction City capable, and those of which we do not.
