R Mechanic in Livermore

I want to say I have gone to R Mechanic in Livermore. I would not recommend them to anyone. We had lousy service and paid a fortune for their shoddy work. We paid $60.00 for a toggle switch and was charged for an hour labor to install it. Oil change $750.00. The list goes on and on for a total of upwards of $8,000.00. We are very dissatisfied customers and would discourage anyone from going there.

Hi:

I lucked out. I call R Mechanic for service. Lucky for me, they said to bring it to their firm, park it and they would let me know when I could pick it up. I declined the offer. Ridiculous for a one day at most service appointment.

Seeing this post causes me to need to tell my R Mechanic story.
I am from Michigan and over a year ago now I purchased an 03 Intrigue in the SF Bay area. I had the driveline inspected by a Cummins shop in Oakland and had a mobile mechanic check out the RV systems with me. But I knew I might well need to have some service done before heading back cross country with it. Many sources had told me to take it to R Mechanic -- that they are the prmiere service center for high end coaches in that part of the country. As I figured out what service I was going to need I called them, explained my circumstances, and felt lucky that I got an appoinment on fairly short notice. I checked in in Livermore one afternoon and they went to work on my list the next morning. Even though I knew they would be far more expensive than other places, I went ahead and had them change the motor oil and filters, the generator oil and filters, and replace the transmission filter and top off with fluid. When they were all done, the bill for labor was 8.7 hours at $135 and hour, which I immediately questioned as the tech had only worked on the coach for 5.5 hours at the absolute most. The answer I got was that they charged me actual labor for all the other services and fixed labor charges for the the motor, gen, and trans services. I protested that they couldn't charge me 8.7 hours of labor when they had only worked on it for 5.5. But the answer was that the fixed labor could have taken longer than the book and I wouldn't have been charged more for it if it had. I argued against it every way I could but the owner's wife and bookkeeper was only get more red in the face as she became every more entrenched. What was I to do -- I was over 2,000 miles from home and they weren't budging. I bit my lip real hard, pulled out the credit card, and got on my way, knowing full well they ripped my off for over $500 within a $2,100 bill.
