top of roof air conditioner cracked

Yahoo Message Number: 72774
Hi,

First time on my roof as it was one of the things my husband did and I got up there to clean it so I could coat it with bus Kote.

1. How do I remove all the black that looks like mildew but isn't? I live in the high desert at the RV is always in a garage unless I am driving it. I have never seen mildew in my house much less in my RV
2. I noticed that the top of one of the air conditioners is cracked, how do I fix it.

Thank you in advance

I have not worked to remove black stuff on a glass roof before, so this may not help. On our TPM roof, I removed black and tree sap with Acetone.
On the cracked AC cover. We got several more years out of our Bounder AC shield, but taking it off, and applying Eterna Bond tape on the inside. We had a 4" roll, and I made large crosses over the holes. Then used a sharp tool to punch a hole in the tape. Had one edge with a 3-4" crack, that I backed up on the inside with the tape too. This may not work for you, but if it is not too badly cracked, you might save it.

Best of luck,
Smitty

The tape probably would have worked but I had gone to the store and bought a fiberglass repair kit and did it on the inside like Jack Nichols had mentioned in his reply and I think that will last a lot longer. I got some Simple Green and my good old scrub brush to take the black off. Now I will go up and wash the roof again tomorrow and tape it so I can do the Bus Kote primer.

I used white 3m 5200 sealant to fix a crack on mine where I accidently leaned too hard with my hand. Only visable by flyover and works fine. The only people that know it is there are me and anyone who reads this post.

Bev,

I had some of that but did not think of it. Today was the first time on my roof so I had no idea what to expect. I have used the 5200 to seal leaks on my slideouts.
