bendix air dryer

I was under my coach this morning trying to get the model# off the air dryer-no luck even with a mirror, so I would like to ask the group. My Inspire is a late 04 #51166 wcat c-9.I have no moisture from the drain lines but at 55K I think its time to overhaul the air dryer. Thank You in advance. Bill

As I understand it, the risk of not replacing the air dryer is "dusting." The dessicant inside disintegrates spreading dust throughout the air system doing damage.
For what it's worth, a technician at Bendix told me their dessicant does not dust like the Chinese replacements do. Therefore, as long as you are not getting moisture at the drains, you should be OK. That is the strategy I'm following. I might reconsider at 100,000 miles. I'm at 67,000 now.

The folks at Bendix said the time to replace is when you begin to get moisture from the drain valves. The time period is dependent upon the climate in which you operate the coach. They also said that a re-manafactured CAT filter is as good as a new one. Don't forget the purge valve when you change out.

I agree with you! On our 99 Allure I had it changed two years ago just the age of the coach made me do it. One of the few things I paid to have done. Ken 99 Allure 30356

To backup what George wrote, here is an email I received from Bendix:

"No dusting problem as long as you use Genuine Bendix Products.
Thanks
