VMS - Generator error

Yahoo Message Number: 73186
My gen won't start/stop using the VMS...but works fine with rocker switch. VMS is giving me a comm failure error message. Any ideas on how to re-set?

I have had a similar problem from time to time. I have reset the errors on the vms started it from another source then went back and all was well. Make sure that the knob that you index items on the vas is actually working. What I mean is that the knob after awhile actually hits the face before the shaft is fully depresed. I inserted paper into the end of the knob which raised it enough that when you press the shaft traveled far enough to index the item.

AS A FOLLOW-UP: Shutting off disconnect switches didn't seem to do anything. But, I started Gen using rocker switch on Gen itself, turned off-breaker located next to rocker switch for a few minutes w/Gen still running and VMS was already turned on, then turned breaker back on...and it worked! Thanks for all your input -

Two other tricks that can reset the VMS and solve this kind of problem are -

1. Flip off the 'Battery Disconnect' switch by the entry for 30 second. You will need to reset the refrigerator propane alarm under the frig (flip off/on).

2. Find the Silverleaf main black box (in a bay). Disconnect the 'main' line for 30 seconds.
