03 Intrigue no cold water at shower even after changing the moen car

Yahoo Message Number: 73392
Hello,

I noticed that on a recent trip that I had no cold water at the shower but plenty of cold and hot at the other two sinks. We have a 03 Intrigue Ovation floor plan with a Moen cartridge single handle shower mixer. I replaced the unit which i purchased at ACE which looked identical to the one removed. Since several heads are better than one wondering if anyone else has had this problem? And problem same if on water pump or city water. Where would you look next?

Thanks in advance for your help

Also checked inspection behind shower and plenty of supply to moen mixer so noticed plastic nut on top of mixer not sure if there is an adjustment?

Could there be an isolation valve(shut off valve) that may be turned off?

It may sound strange, but make sure your outside shower FAUCET HANDLE is off. It could be on with the HEAD valve off so you wouldn't notice it.

Jerry,

We had similar problem, no hot water to the shower. Replaced the mixing valve, and solved the problem. Had to have a plumbing supply place order it for us-about $45. The valves get corroded and either the hot or the cold may not work.

I pulled the cold water supply off the mixer valve and turned on the pump and there is plenty of cold water and pressure so it must be in the mixer. Noticed in my Moen papers the unit has a couple of things that might allow adjustment one called the check stop and the other is called a balance spool. I will call Moen today and see. I would change out the mixer but not sure how easy it is to adapt a new one.

thanks Jerry

Got a call from Moen the person said my problem was a balance spool easy to install they are sending it to me no charge good customer service. We will see soon but think it is the answer just FYI.

Thanks for your responses
