Power steering low pressure hose

The low pressure return power steering hose popped off the steering box on the way to the FMCA rally in WI. Lost power steering, got over to the shoulder and 18 gallons later of dextron 3 and a clamp on the hose fitting, we were on our way. There was no clamp on the low pressure hose. May want to check your steering box.

My Too Cents, Friend if it were me I would go to a good hose shop or have a mobile hose truck go to your rig and get a proper hose made up. Lucky you did not have a FIRE! Low or high side proper hoses must be used! Im suprised CC Would do this? You may want to run this by NHTSA Check their website for recalls on you 08 Affinity! Ken 99 Allure 30356

Thought I would check my coach to see what was there. It also has a good crimp connection on the pressure side and the return is just pushed onto the nipple with no clamp! It now has a hose clamp on it.

Thanks for the heads up George.

Glad to help! The tech said it saves time in production not having to put on the hose clamp and being a low pressure hose should not need it. But when you make a sharp turn the pressure increases. We had made a hair pin turn a few miles before getting on the highway and lost power steering after going into some s turns. We came out ok and got off to the side of the road.

This incident sparked my interest to crawl under the coach today and inspect the power steering motor hose connections. They are both swadged-end and screwed into the motor housing, just as one would expect on any hydraulic device with high pressure.
It's hard to believe that even the low pressure outlet on that gentleman's coach would only have a hose clamp.

The low pressure hose in question is attached to the steering box in the front of the coach at the end of the steering column. High pressure on one side, low pressure on the other. Access with generator slide out, behind a panel at steering column hight. Hope this helps.
