jake brake

There has been some discussion recently about the use of the jake brake in conjunction with cruise control. My owners manual states that the cruise control should not be engaged while the jake brake is activated. My understanding of the reasoning behind this is that the cruise control and jake brake could actually fight one another, particularly in a downhill situation. Am I correct or am I missing something? I'd appreciate some clarification from those of you that are more knowledgeable than I.
I have an ISL 400 with a 2 stage C (jake) brake

Many times, I will use the jake with the cruise. Esp. on flat rolling hills. When going down a small hill it's amazing how the coach will get up to speed (10-15mph faster than cruise set) on a small down hill run.
The jake keeps it at a descent speed. On steep grades I prefer to row the boat myself.

This is interesting. As I read the other threads about the Cat engines that provide options by reflashing the computer, I wondered about if the same was available for our 04 ISL?
I did not think that Jake and Cruise worked. I thought the Cruise stopped the Jake from engaging?

Is this a difference in model years?
Does anyone know how to get the options available for coding options? And recommended settings?
