Does anyone know what the ABS fault code 4 2 means? Thanks

02 Magna,

First Digit 4 indicates "Sensor Short or Open", Second Digit 2 indicates "Left Front Steer Axle".

Action: Verify 900 - 2000 ohm resistance

Thanks, Mike 03 Allure 1st Ave. #30898

To reset...is that holding the toggle switch for 3 seconds and then letting it go through its steps?

Yes, hold it in either the up position or down position ( I don't remember) for 3 seconds. You will get the reset 8 flashes and then sets of 2 flashes to show you that it reset. If the fault doesn't clear, then it will reappear. That's why I sent you the manual.

Do check the terminating resistors.

Good luck

ok, I reset it and the 4 2 came back on. Pulled LF sensor off wheel and cleaned it...didn't work. Looked at connector...didn't have ohm meter to check it...it looked very clean & dry (its inside a water-tight storage bay). Is it possible the rear connector (though I haven't found it yet)could cause a fault for LF wheel? I wouldn't mine just replacing sensor if that would work...just need to fine one - Thanks

You are more adventurous than I was. Meritor has really good tech support and they can probably tell you whether it could be something else besides the sensor. Their 800 number is on the back of the manual.
If one terminator is bad, then the signal line would have a reading of 120 ohms instead of 60. But it may just be the sensor.
The terminator at least on my coach is on the right side of the engine compartment after you open the hatch. It might be somewhere else if yours has a Cummins. mine is a CAT. It also might look different. My rear one was corroded.
I disregarded my ABS issues for a couple of years as it was a nuissance and never drove where it might even activate. The same went for my Volvo S70.
