Intrigue Genset Overheating

Well. $1100.00 later our genset (PowerTech 8k)is working and cooling properly. Four hours of diagnosis to get it restarted (I tripped the 105 amp breaker trying to start it it when it was still too hot), and a CC proscribed modification to the bay ($600.00 +).

If you review the PowerTech installation manual, it describes the required cooling vents and openings for the unit to function properly.

Jim Craig in CC Customer Service provided me with a CC approved modification to the bay that has provided vastly increased air flow.
A warning to anyone attempting this fix: the floor of the bay (where the new opening is created) is 3/8" plate steel. The guy who did it said it was a bear.

Part of the fix is to add some rubber flaps and foam the space between the bottom of the bay and the engine in order to completely alter the way the air flow through the bay.

If you are planning to run it in desert conditions, I'd suggest the fix. I have a copy of the CC engineering drawing that Jim gave me to provide to the tech. He vas VERY helpful and more than willing to work with the tech to coordinate the project.
Hats off to Jim from a very grateful RVer who thought he toasted his genset engine (Kubota).

Chuck: I have had coooling problems with my genset, but just when I try to run both a/c units in extreme hot conditions. I find that opening the door will allow me to run both while parked. Both will run while driving without killing the genset. This raises the question: Would an aftermarket vent built into the door near the radiator allow additional air flow and perhaps be a less troublesome fix? Who knows?. I have seldom had a need to run both a/c units while parked. I head for cool weather in the summer and warm weather in winter. Thanks for your input.

How might us folks who have recently reported the same problem get a copy of the air flow improvements?

CCI must not have done a very good engineering job.
