8D batterys won't hold charge

My two 8D house battery's in my coach are not holding the charge. After charging them fully the electrolytes show good on all cells. Batteries are disconnected. Been reading something about desulfate (spelling) them. Will this help and what is the procedure Dick 96 Intrigue 10203

After fully charging, you need to remove the cables and load test them. You can equalize them with your inverter/charger, but you may or may not see any improvement. If the load test fails, they're junk.

In my opinion (you get what you pay for....) take the coach to a battery facility that can do a load test. Interstate is a good one if there is one near you. How old are the batteries? If they are worn out/shot and you dry camp you would do better and probably cheaper to put 6v deep cell batteries in instead of the 8Ds. More power, less cost. I recently replaced my 2 8Ds with 6 Interstate 6v deep cell and I am very happy with the end result. (of course I waited until my 8Ds were almost worthless.....)

Thanks Dave, I have the tool to do a load test. Tested the batteries and it went below the poor line. Don't know how old the batts are, and am thinking to just getting new ones.

on my starter battery and it greatly improved the starting performance just after two weeks. It is meant just to desulfate the battery allowing cleaner plates. Only uses battery power when the unit senses the alternator or a battery charger is charging the battery.

I am using AGM's for the house batteries.
I also have a 12 volt battery minder charger that has brought back to life may old batteries that would have been thrown out. Will not bring back to life a battery that has shorted out or disolved plates though.
