Installing Hardwood in a Motorhome

I have ordered some wood flooring(1/2"thick Engineered 3" wide) for the MH, I am removing the Carpet from the Living Area and placing the hardwood. I'm sure that some have done this before, This flooring does not snap together, it has a tongue and groove similar to regular Oak flooring. It say you can glue, nail or float... I am leaning towards nailing, I have tools to nail with and was wanting to know if some of the nails penetrated through the sub-floor would it hurt anything, I see lots of foam insulation in places where I can see under the Floor. I don't mean a lot of penetration maybe a 1/4" or so...Any advice from someone that has done this before... It is wood, not laminate.. Thanks Marvin, 07 Allure, #31459

Marvin- nailing your wood down would be kinda tricky. I say this because the steel crossmembers under the subfloor would cause a nail or staple to instantly turn and penetrate the surface of the new floor if yoyou hit one of those. Also there are large bolts that hold the floor dodown. The best solution is to use a urethane adhesive that has no water and cures by moisture in the air. Bosticks, Stauf are quality brands. Marvin We used finishing nails on our wood floor Three years and no problems the floor is very secure and looks great. It was 1/2 inch thick Lee Ramage 2004 Intrigue 11784

Thanks Guys, I am planning to Nail mine, it should be here in a day or so, I have removed the Carpet and Pad and have the floor clean ready to install. I have an pneumatic nailer that shoots staples, ranging in size from 1/4" to 1-1/2 in, they are 1/4 crown so looks like about a 1" will do the job OK. Thanks again..
