Rear Bedroom Slide has sheered the bolt three times in less than two

CC Owners,

I own a 2005 Inspire that seems to like sheering bolts slides. My rear bedroom slide on the passenger side as sheered the bolt three times in the last two years, with number three being today.
Is there something else I should be looking at other than simply replacing the special sheer bolts. I have used the factory bolt and a number 8 bolt, it does not seem to matter.

If anyone has any insight as what I might do, please let me know.

As an FYI to all,

I just ran into a problem where my slide was not retracting on on side of the slide when I was trying to bring it in. I had a friend push it in manually as I retracted and we got it in. After calling Carrier & Sons, they told me what I needed to do to investigate what was causing the problem. On my 2004 Allure the slide is electric slide. They told me to crawl into the bay an look for the electric motor and the shafts extending out from them. There is a 1/4' bolt attached to the shaft on each end which sometimes breaks.
Well to make a long story short, open the panels, found where the bolts are attached and the bolt was missing from the shaft. The bolt was laying on the ground, nut had come loose and fallen off. Put a new Grade 8 quarter inch diameter bolt on with a self-locking nut and it was fixed. Easy fix. Turns out two of the other 3 bolts had loose nuts on them and one was ready to fall off. Replaced these bolts too and put new self-locking bolts on. Altogether, it took about an hour.
My coach is 8 years old and it appears after 70,000 miles of traveling the nuts had come loose on these bolts even though the nuts were self-locking nuts. "Just another day in a life" :-)

You need to make sure that the grade 8 bolts that you installed are SHEAR BOLTS, these bolts are meant to break if there is any problems with the room or slide mechanism, I have these special bolts in stock if you or any one else is in need.

Rick, there are a lot of loose nuts in Washington also. Sorry, I just couldn't resist....... Some of you were probably told to to hold down the retract button for a few seconds once the slide comes in. On the HWH hydraulic slides this is the correct procedure, however, on the electric slide you do not want to do this. It will eventually cause the bolts being referred to to break. I know that you probably know this, but there are a lot of folks out there that don't, especially newbies. I know I've been there and done that as a newbie with my 06 Allure.

I just had a problem with the rear street side slide out---bedroom. Had someone just "bring it in" so we could get on the road again and go home. He used a regular non-rated bolt.
Kevin, We have a 2009 36 ft Inspire # 52167 with a Power Gear mechanism . Do you have the right shear-bolt that will fit?
