Silver Leaf Needed

If anyone can help

I have a need for the least expensive Silver Leaf. If anyone out there has one used/refurbished of the least expensive, and is looking to sell. I would be very interested. Unfortunately I cannot use the l software only on my laptop, because it is not a PC I have a Mac.I want to finally put to rest the worry about my Cat-9 Transmission over heating, as my gauges would indicate. When in stop and go traffic the transmission gauge will go all the way to 300 degrees, but never has anything been displayed on my instrument panel.

I run the laptop version on an old laptop and it runs fine. You could pick up an old xp laptop to run it. Just a thought lots cheaper than buying silver leaf. I just bungee it to the drivers tray on my inspire when I want the data. Works great.

Forgive my lack or computer expertise. Read that as, like, novice! How did you tie into the onboard data. What cabling did you use? Where are the onboard connections located. Which wires?
I recently purchased a used Silver Leaf from someone that I trust. It was previously hard wired to his coach. He subsequently removed it to install in his next coach but, then decided to drop out of motor home travel. It has wires that were cut off (no connector). The gentleman that I purchased it from had an Allure like mine but, he could not help as he said he had it professionally installed. I have not yet investigated the method to connect. I found a suspect rectangular connector dangling beneath the instrument cluster but, I am not sure it is the information center that I am looking for. The rep from Silver Leaf said to look for a round connector. I have not found this yet. I do not have a clue as to what to do next. The original owners manual is rather confusing.
Anxious to install. How do I find the right wire to tap into? Can anyone help? Daron Hairabedian, 98 Allure, 30226

Daron, I have a 99 Allure #30349 and use a silverleaf vmspc with an older hp tablet as my display. I expect your coach will have the square transmission connector just to the left of the steering column where you can access the serial bus data for the silverleaf. the unit should be easy to install with a primary power 12v connection, a ground, a wire that connects to headlight switch (to dim display at night) and a data wire for the serial data that provides information. I sent an additional E mail with the connector information in case I can't attach it to this message. Silverleaf is very helpful and I would contact them for identification of the wires by color on the vms you purchased. As long as your coach is electronic (ISC) engine/transmission it is very easy to connect and operate.

Dave, Thanks for the diagram and your comments. I will send a follow up as soon as I can climb under the dash and get to it. Being a contortionist would help.
Then, I need to decide where to penetrate the dash to get the wires through as I plan to set the Silver Leaf monitor somewhere in easy site on top of the dash.
Kevin Waite also graciously offered to help via phone., So, I will call him later this week.

Go to the link below and click on the highlighted 'RV-C' wiring diagrams. The interface works with either the diagnostics plug or the transmission plug. They are both data highways connected to both the engine and transmission. Mine is also hard wired into the tranny data plug.

Well, I procrastinated as long as I could.
I finally squoze (is that a word?) my body between the steering column and the drivers seat to do the installation. I followed the chart to hard wire the SilverLeaf cables to the existing diagnostic plug and one additional wire to the head light switch in the panel to the left of the driver. It was a much simpler task than I anticipated.
It looks pretty sanitary except where the ugly wires lay on my dash before they enter between the instrument cover and the dash pad. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this a little less ugly?. Anyway, I will tend to that problem er..uh..."opportunity to improve" later.
My only problem is reading the tiny lettering on the buttons and the info on the VMS monitor as my close-up vision is not so good. Fumbling with reading glasses while driving is a bad idea. But, I believe I have found a solution: Bi-Focal sun glasses. The top is not corrected at all, however the bottom half is ground to magnify to suit my needs. Now all I have to do is remember the store where I saw those darn things!
I was considering placing the VMS monitor a little closer to my line of site. But, I have not decided on that issue. I have some concerns about being distracted with all that fun information rather than concentrating on my driving!

I love gadgets!!!..... Don't you?
