oil pressure gauge

Stop guys, don't do anything. CC powered the oil pressure gauge with a forward biased diode which cuts the voltage to all the gauges down below 12 volts instead of 13. I worked on this problem for several hours because I had the same problem when I bought my coach and before my Silver Leaf was shipped back to me. If the light is tied to the gauge, check voltage to the gauge first. Does it happen when the engine is cold? Have someone connect it up to a computer to see if it is the gauge or something else.

Ken Former Caterpillar Diesel tech, Jon good point about the Doide voltage had many on this issue! If the coach was in My shop I first would remove the Valve Cover and Get a bright light and Inspect overhead, Check oil level and color of oil and pull an oil sample run it to the lab and get a report on the spot. If all is well connect the laptop or Mach. pressure gauge then crank engine and get readings. Have never worked on Cummins fuel inj. pumps I have heard on ceramic Piston failures on these older Models. If readings are good on Ga. and Laptop then start with Oil sender and walk you way to the Ga. Keep us posted. Ken in Yuma.
