Coach Battery

Ok, everyone. I'm a lurker and not many posts as I am still learning about my country coach Allure 2002. Here is my question today.
I have my coach plugged into shore power in storage and i find that the coach battery is dead after leaving it there for a week or so. House batteries are fully charged. I understand a bit about my charging system to know that it doesn't charge the coach batteries. My question is for the short term charging of the coach battery I'd like to plug it into a separate trickle charger, which I already have. Question, Which battery is my coach battery?

In my coach the rear battery is the coach/starting battery. You should have an Echo charger on the house batteries, that will provide charging to the coach batteries while plugged in.

I have an echo charger on my coach but it doesn't seem to charge the chassis battery at all. The house batteries are always in great shape but not the chassis. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

You will probably receive many responses to your question but May I suggest you take a photo of your battery compartment and send it to me direct and I should be able to answer your question. In most cases it is the one on the left. It also is not the one or ones that are deep discharge. It also is the one that is not in series or parrallel with any other batteries.

I had the same problem when I first bought my coach. The book on my echo charger says the inverter/charger will charge the house batteries first and when they reach a certian level (around 13 volts) the echo charger will switch over to charging the chassis battery. That didn't happen and my chassis battery would drop over time. I replaced the echo charger (about $100 on line) and problem is solved.

My Echo charger was giving me trouble for a year. I just had it replaced with a Magnum charger. Supposedly it charges your house and chassis batteries at the same time. So far, it's working great. $170, including installation.

If you have an Echo charger, check the two inline fuses located about 1-2' down stream from the Echo charger. My Echo charger is located in the same compartment as the inverter above the batteries.

Which battery is my coach battery? --> In our 2002 Allure the chassis battery is the one on the left; the coach batteries are the ones in the center and right. If you REALLY want to be sure just open the battery compartment door and check the voltages with a volt meter - the battery with the low voltage is the (discharged) chassis battery.
I had the same symptoms you are reporting. It turned out someone (the factory?) miswired the echo charger. Try swapping the two red wires leaving the echo charger (located in the enclosed compartment above the batteries) and see if your problem doesn't go away. You can probably just disconnect the two red wires and the fuses and switch the connections.
Other 2002 owners have had this same problem so I suspect someone on the assembly line had a bad day (or year).
