We are considering installing a water filter system on our coach. Does anyone have any advice or recomendations on a system.
Thanks

Tom,

I have an '05 Inspire and it came standard with a water filter system. Are you sure you don't already have one? My filter access is under a cover on the left side of the passenger side storage bay opposite the plumbing bay. Just a thought.

Tom,

Your post is interesting; I have a 2004 Inspire and the only water filter I have found is a small filter for the icemaker.

Tom,

I just looked and the only things I seee are the 3 tanks, vent, overflow hose, and hot & cold water supply. Any other suggestions? If there is a standard filter where else would I look?

Tom,

Mine is under a cover that is made of some kind of fiberboard. Maybe 5" or 6" wide, same depth and maybe 10" - 12" tall covered with the same fabric as the inside of the boxes. The cover has got flanges on sides with screws holding it to the side panel. It's on the left hand side of the curb side box that is opposite my shore power electric cord & TV cable. I can get out there to take a picture maybe tomorrow if needed but I think you'd see it if you've got one and it's in the same location as mine. My coach is 40' if that makes any difference to where CC may have had room in a box?

Tom,

I agree with the other Tom. My 2005 Inspire has a water filter in the 4th bay on passenger side just inside the compartment on upper left inclosed with a cover. The only other thing is both of our coaches are the 40' model. If yours is a 36' it may be in another location. Some were under the sink.

Tom,

I also have an 05 CC Inspire. I couldn't find mine, so I called CC factory. They told me that every 05 inspire should have been outfitted with a water filter. They told me to look under the sink in the head, and there it was.
You probably have one hidden somewhere as well.

'04/'05 36' Inspire's (at least) did not get a water filter. I checked with the factory back when I first bought our rig, they said there wasn't enough room. ?????
Anyway, I added one exactly like the ones supplied then by the factory in line between the connection in the bay and the fill hose - easy with materials available at most any camping/RV store. Use a short section of hose (about a foot - I don't know what else they are for but they are easy to find) and plain old garden hose fittings that should be in the RV water secton as well. No big deal to add one. In fact I use two filters, a particulate rated for microbes and a charcoal for chemicals. They work fine, I change as needed when things either slow way down or the taste is no longer up to par.
Why they claimed there wasn't enough room was probably because of the way they installed them. They couldn't get one in the 36' until a redesign - only thing that makes sense to me.

Tom,

We have three filters:
1. Whole house filter in plumbing bay. Use sediment element only. If you use charcoal element that removes chlorine, the water in your fresh water tank will not be chlorinated and may foul.
2. In -line filter in refr compt. that feeds refr. ice maker. It is is also plumbed to a bay with a convenient faucet for drinks and to fill my portable ice maker in another nearby bay.
3. Under sink Everpure brand filter for drinking and cooking purposes. This removes chlorine and smaller particles than the whole house filter.
These filters are available at home centers or any RV supply.

On my 36 ft 99 Allure, the built in filter is in the second basement on the drivers side. There is a sheet metal cover covering it with 4 screws securing it . There was a tool that came with the coach that is used to R & R the canister.

On My 99 Allure found the filter got so mad I completly removed it and used a pipe nipple to buy pass. Remounted a new house type filter outside the coach and also removed the CC whole housewater pressure regulator and connected both to the fresh water pedistal spigot Filters are mounted in a plastic Tub to keep critters and sun off. I hate ware they put it. Shot themselfs in the foot on that one. I run 45 psi on the old vintage plumbing. Works for me. Ken 99 Allure 30356

I have since found the filter by spying through from the passenger side. It is just aft of door 3 storage compartment. There is supposed to be an access door from bay 3 to the filter. Alas there is no access door, must have been a Friday job. I will attemp to "cut an access door through the bay wall without cutting wiring or plumbing. Wish me luck.
