Dead Toad battery

We just purchased a 2012 Lincoln MKX for a tow vehicle. We had Roadmaster equipment installed with the breakmaster car air brake. The car has adaptive cruise control which required special brackets and keyless entry and start. We only have to leave the accessory button on and with no other modifications we were towing. The first day was nine hours and when we got to the camp at Yachats it was 9:30 PM and the battery was dead. The key fob would not unlock the car and we were seriously considering the brick option to get in. No cell or internet service and the way we pulled in we could not back up and could not unhook. We were somewhat blocking the access road, it was raining with 60 MPH winds. All manuals were safely in the car and we thought we had no Key. The next morning we discovered a button on the key fob that produced a key. Who knew. I looked at the cord running power from the coach to the car and found they had only used a four wire cord and had not hooked up the charging feature. When we got back they rewired with a six wire cord that keeps the battery charged and activates the brake lights, turn signals etc. One cord, a six wire does it all.
