RV Park Recommendations

We are planning a trip beginning around the middle of August through about the middle of September.
We will start from Dallas, drive to Palo Duro Canyon just South of Amarillo, from there our planed stops are Raton NM, Estes Park CO, Casper WY, Yellow Stone WY, Salt Lake City UT, St George UT, Grand Canyon East Rim, Grants NM, Carlsbad Caverns, Colorado City TX and then on home.
We are looking for Motor Home campground recommendations (two coaches 40ft length). Nice camps with full hookups & views are preferred.

We also like to bike, hike, fish and generally enjoy nature.

Your recommendations would be appreciated!

Thank you,
RJ

RV Park Reviews is always a good place to start too. It has reviews by people like you and me.

And Google Earth allows you to look down on the campground and the surrounding area.

Other members will have more personal experiences.

Just north of St George is Hurricane. Before you get to Hurricane, (at the WalMart), you can turn south, on a good new road, and find the Sand Hollow State Park. This is an excellent new park out in the desert beside a lake. New large motorhome friendly sites with full hookups. Fantastic views of the mountains and desert. We have stayed here a number of times and it's on our all time favorite list.
A 30 minute drive to Zion and not far from the north rim of GC. An easy day drive to Cedar Breaks and Bryce. Snow canyon and the West Kalob. An hour south to LV. (Sin City. :))

Don't forget the 4 corners area and south western Colorado on your way back, Mesa Verde, Durango Colorado and the Durango and Silverton steam train, Pagosa Springs, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque, too. Then stop in Roswell on your way to Carlsbad and White City with the Caverns. Spend some time in Colarado Springs, visit the top of Pikes a Peak, Manitou Springs, if you like to gamble, visit Cripple Creek, stop at Manitou Springs. Stop in Denver for great food, Museums, the US Mint, the best model RR hobby shop, the rail Museum and the Coors Brewery in Golden Colorado. Everyone should visit George town and poke around Black Hawk. too. Take some time and visit Cheyenne, Wyo, go over Sherman Hill and take a peak at Laramie, too. Stop in Jackson Hole, walk down town, see their art museum, make sure you spend a day or two at Teton National Park. Stay at Grizzly Bear RV park while at West Yellow stone and visit all the entries, N,S E,& W of the park. If you are going to St George, that means visiting CANYON LANDS, BRYCE AND ZION NATIONAL PARKS with out fail. The North Rim of Grand Canyon should be on your Buckett list, too. as should be Page, Glen Canyon Dam. Hope you have 4 or 5 months.

I am here at Thompson Falls Montana at a Campground called Birdland Bay RV Resort. Its right on the Clark Fork River on U.S. Route 200 just north west of Missoula. It is wonderful here. Fishing, Hiking and its nestled in the mountains. Almost evert site is pull through and all but one site is 50 amp. There is a Huckleberry Festival the week of Aug 11-18. During the summer season they have potluck dinners, breakfast and planned activities. Deer wander through the park all the time. As a matter of fact I just swa about 8 of them by the pond. I highly recommend this place.
