Equipment needed for local stations

Yahoo Message Number: 79302
I have the Concord antenna that apparently only gets analog local TV stations (I'm not certain that it won't, I might only need additional equipment). I frequently want to get local stations but can only use my Motosat. I get HDTV but not local. What do I need to get to receive digital signals? I hope the Concord can be modified because it has three legs to raise it rather than the single pole used for the Winegard antenna. I don't think it will be an easy change out.

Do I need a digital converter box? (If so, do I need one for each TV or can I use one? I understand that I can't use it with a direct connection from the antenna cable because it may carry 12 volts and will ruin the converter box.)

Thanks,

the mfg might be able to answer your questions. The document at the link above says their antennas are HD compatible but might not apply to older ones. I would give them a call. we had to get digital boxes for both TV's in our '04 Allure to get local channels.

My old batwing antenna on my 2003 Allure (30856) picked up HD local channels very well. Bought a hi-tech replacement antenna at rally that was supposed to get more channels, but I saw no improvement. Shouldn't have wasted the money and kept my old batwing. If you don't have digital TVs, I think you need a converter box too?

Gerry,

I also have the Concord antenna and it works fine for receiving HD, digital signals. If you do not have digital TVs you will need converter boxes.

The cost for converter boxes could make a down payment on new digital HD TVs.

Gene,

Larry is correct. If you don't have digital tv's then you will need a converter box for each tv. I got mine when the government had coupons to use. But confirm whether your tv is digital or not. Mine was High Def. but not digital. I get great reception with my Wineguard omnidirctional attenna but not great at distances.
