Gas line for portable heater

I want to add a quick connect gas fitting under the stove cabinet for a portable heater (Mr Heater Big Buddy). I see that from the steel pipe is a 3 way T fitting. One side to the water heater, one to the stove and the other is capped off. Here's a picture.
Is it going to be OK to take the cap off and use this for the heater connection? I would have a shut off valve before the quick disconnect. Could any RV shop do the work or would I need a plumber?

Jim - Probably do it yourself, very safely. Turn ogt the LP from the outside tank. Unscrew the cap from the T. in the picture. Take your Heat Buddy extended hose, the cap, and visit the local hardware store. Get the gas valve that matches the size oc the cap threads for off of the T, with a nipple that fits the extended hoses female size. Be sure to get plumbers tape or dope that works with gas, usually yellow for gas. Then put it all together.

Jim,

I went to a propane dealer and had them make up the hose length that I needed and the fittings. They had a special quick-disconnect that does not let propane escape. It also has a shut-off valve .

I added a gas line with a quick disconnect for a portable Olympic catalytic heater. I did tee into the line under the kitchen sink on it's way to the stove top. I used a line long enough that I can move the heater around a bit. it works great for getting the chill off in the mornings.
I do not think the heater you are planning on using will work as you proposed. The Mr Buddy heaters, because they have their own pressure regulator are meant to be connected to high pressure propane such as direct from the 1 pound cylinders or from a barbecue tank. The gas that is supplied to the appliances in your coach is low pressure vapor from the pressure regulator that is on the outlet of the coach propane tank.
The Olympic catalytic heater are designed for low pressure vapor supply gas.

Norm, that's what I was hoping to use the heater for too, just for short periods of time to get the chill off. Mr Heater makes 2 models. The one I have has an inputs for both high and low pressure connections.
