Fuel tank leak

We have a leak in the bottom of our diesel fuel tank along the welded seam. Spoke with Doug Beaudry at CC factory and were advised that CC had changed fuel tank manufacturing company after numerous tanks had the same problem. Doug thought that attempting to repair the weld had a low percentage success rate and the poor design would likely bring more leaks down the road. Any input? Thanks,

I would listen to Doug. What he says is right on with a weld seam starting to leak. Defective tank welding job.

I have no idea, but Doug says all of the tanks made for CC's for a few years were bad design. The problem is the frame construction that holds it up.

I've repaired many fuel tanks over the years for coaches of all makes & models. The most common issues we see is bad welding from the manufacture of the coach that added the mounting brackets, or whoever added the brackets. You can usually see a visual difference in the welds themselves, the tank will have very nice clean welds and the bracket will look like a unskilled welder stuck it together.
What we do is pull the tank, steam clean it in and out and send it over to our local certified welder, where he fixes the leak, cleans up the area's that bad as well as any other spots that was not done so great (usually any other brackets that were added to the tank), pressure test & re-install. Doing it this way we have not had any issues or comebacks. Now we also look at adding more supports or structure to the coach to carry the load better.
