Door entry awning Carefree Marquee

My door awning is stuck open. I can hear the motor take power and the fuse is fine it just will not retract. The manual shows end caps with screws but on my Allure there are none it has spray painted ends which I assume are a CC addition. From the drawings I see that perhaps there is a manual wind in option under the caps but I am stuck as to how to remove them. Anyone have any thing to offer please. (In the meantime I have strung the unit in and taped it over, it did 260 miles yesterday OK but looks pretty naff!
