I would like to know why every one uses a LCD TV instead of an LED TV I am putting in a 32 inch model and the TV has to have an audo output. The LED TVs are supposed to be better. What does every one use for audo. Thanks Brad Coach 10646

LED require less energy, have truer colors, better contrast, are brighter, and look better off axis, but

alas they cost more and under our lighting conditions the differences are not readily noticeable to most

folks. IMHO. Plus at our viewing distance most folks can't see ghosts, halo's smearing, and modulation

noise present on LCD sets. For sound you can take your audio outputs and plug them into the sound

system if you have one. If you don't I guess that is going to be added, too. There are many available

choices out there. You can choose an up to-date advanced car stereo system with external audio

inputs. Or add a home style combo unit with DVD/CD player built in from Panasonic, Sony, Nad, etc.

You can also buy in the box Home theatre system complete with speakers, too. If you are a do it your

self type its not so hard, if not, find a reputable shop. Don't look for a deal, you'll being paying for the rest of your travels.

The LED TVs are the newer technology and therefore more expensive.

Brad,

I just went through that same process a few months ago and I, too asked that question. In fact, I initially bought two LED Samsungs, a 32" for the front and a 23" for the rear. After I was all finished, I learned that the front one had no capability of being hooked up to any external sound source, so I took it back (to Costco) and bought a 32" Sony LCD. I wanted the LED because it is so much thinner and a bit lighter, but I am very pleased with the Sony LCD, which I have hooked up directly through my Bose 321 sound system. It is great, and before returning the 32" Samsung LED, I had to run the tv through the Panasonic VCR, and had to also use a digital convertor box rather than the new tv's own tuner, as the Panasonic VCR tuner was old and not digital, but that was the only way I could find to utilize an outside sound system with that tv. The Sony solved all of those problems. I still have the 23" Samsung tv in the bedroom. The bottom line is that the LCD versus LED wasn't the issue, but the LED model I bought didn't have the capability to be hooked up to an outside sound source. The Sony 32" had the features I needed, and just happened to be LCD, as I learned at the time an LED with those capabilities was not readily available in a 32".
All in all, I failed to do my due dilligence about the sound issue before buying the first tv, but after the Sony was installed up front, I found that I was very happy with the result. Good luck with your project! Bruce '03 40' Allure w/tag #30852

It should also be noted that the LED and the new OLED, while being more expensive, use a significant amount LESS energy. This results in less A/C use, and less charging required on the batteries when dry camping. It may well be worth the expense , if you are changing out to the new style TV

I recently upgraded my old TV to a 40 inch Samsung LED, super thin model and looks great, can use fiber cable for external sound system.
