01 Intrigue Ignition Switch P/N

Does anybody know the GM P/N for the Ignition Switch used in a '01 Intrigue??

The techs at Beaver Coach Sales in Bend can not diagnosis why I'm having an intermittent starting problem (the starter turning over the engine).
When switch is turned to start position, there is usually a "click" at the starter, but not always engine rotation.
After the coach sits for 4 days, plugged into a 20 amp circuit with the converter charger charging the house batteries.
They claim the echo charger for the chassis battery is working & there is only a 0.5 amp total amp draw on the chassis battery.
The chassis battery is only a year old & load tests fine. The solenoid fuse in starting system checks out O.K.
Sometimes using the jumper switch to combine the chassis & coach batteries works & sometimes not.

I was wondering if the contacts in the ignition switch are bad & not making contact all the time.

My guess would be to check the starter solenoid. Sounds like it's sticking and will eventually stop working all together. Sometimes if you tap it lightly with a wrench it might decide to work. But this is only a temporary fix.
The solenoid should be mounted on the side of the starter. Sometimes there will be an additional relay feeding the solenoid. Trace the small wiring back to the battery to see if this is the case.

If you have do not have any dash warning lights when this happens, check the starter solenoid behind the passenger kick panel it is inline with the main starter solenoid. It is on or behind the silver panel; it has been awhile since I changed mine. Take it with you to NAPA, they should be able to find a match. Make sure you note the diode/direction and location so you can put it on with the new solenoid. This is a known problem on older coaches.

As Vick mentioned the solenoid under the dash in front of the passenger seat may be the problem . Had the same problem and that was the solution. Now I have a 10 minute rule [anything that happened 10 minutes ago is gone] but one of the members suggested a heavy duty solenoid number S 85, I think. It has been good now for a few years.

Lee; starting problems are notorious in coaches. I have a 02 Magna and have had starting problems from time to time. I met a RV tec. on the road and we traveled together in to Canada for about 3 weeks. Some of what he taught me was to check my battery water level, often, then make sure your terminals are disconnected cleaned and replaced securely, if you have white fuzz corrosion take a water hose with a strong pressure and wash all the fuzz of, spray your complete tray you will surprised at how just plain cold water pressure really cleans your corrosion, no need for baking soda or any additives, it really works great. Be sure your batteries are not week and won't hold a charge. Hope this helps, Smiley emoticon Rich

If you are indeed getting a "click" from the starter, which would be the solenoid, you could have a bad starter. If you can do it, after you get the "click" give the starter a couple of heavy love taps and see if it will then turn. The brushes could be worn down to almost nothing and a tap could make them seat a little and make contact with the armature.
Another thing to look at is the relay in the engine compartment. It is mounted on the right side on the bulkhead that backs up to the fuel filter compartment. Again give it a love tap while Kris is turning the key to start and see if it works.
I had this go bad on me early on and for sure the coach will not start.

Lee,

I was having starting problems and I bought a 9513-BX Cole Herse switch. I took all the weight off the key ring and only use the ignition key in the switch and haven't had any problems since.
I don't know what part number yours is, but I look at my old switch and knew it was a Cole Herse switch.

Finally got my Starting Problem is Fixed, not without a many of Bloops & Blunder along the Way.
Thanks to All forum members for your input, especially Mark & Helen, Rich, Bill, Vick & Don S.
The first stop on this frustrating journey was Beaver Coach Sales (aka Morotcoach Sales & Service of Bend - The recently "new" owner is changing its names).
They "diagnosis" (I use that term Lightly) the problem to be a bad battery. My battery was only 1 yr. old & under full replacement warranty by Les Schwab.
Even after I provided them (techs & service writer - Ken) with a written copy of All the suggestions that you folks gave me of possible things being wrong.
It is very frustrating at the arrogance of the techs who discounted your suggestions.
When I picked up the "Repaired" coach, the same problem existed, would periodically NOT start.
Those "Hi-tech" guys just shrugged their shoulders & said "well the battery voltage is at 12.9 volts.
I drove away in disgusted with a though, "well there is another Bend RV service not to return to". That list is rapidly growing.
The next step was the "Shade Tree Mechanic" approach of replacing components, myself, that you folk's suggested, until I found the problem.
First item was the White-Roger 70-902 Coil/70-111224-5a, you suggested, back in the engine bay, passenger's side .
I took the suspect coil, with all the appropriate numbers on, it to a nearby Baxter's Auto Parts store.
The counterman, Dave L. quickly retrieved a replacement his inventory.
Once installed, nothing happened when I turned the key.
So, I went to Jeff Spear, at Bend RV Repair, a one man operation, recommended by Tom L.
I offered Jeff an extra hour's labor charge if he could come to my house, 2 miles away, and Diagnosis the problem.
He did & told me the replaced solenoid coil was the Wrong one.
So, back to Baxter. The counterman, Dave L. return my money, but he was totally indifferent about the Wrong Part situation & actually admitted that he had Guessed on what part to sell me, when not having the number for the part I'd showed him. His attitude was totally, "could care less he had made a mistake". So guess where I'm going after this message, Yep, you guessed it, The Baxter Auto Part web site's comment section.
Any way to make a Long story even Longer, Jeff Spear only charge me 1/2 hour labor & $9 less that Baxter's for the correct part.
I installed the solenoid & all seems right, each & every time I start our rapidly aging Coach.
Jeff Spear of Bend RV Repair has a new happy customer, & like Tom L. I'd highly recommend his service to anybody who in in the Bend, Oregon area.
The only challenge is: Jeff is a one man operation with a large following of customers in a very small facility.
He has plans on expanding next spring.
He is definitely being added to our NWCCer club's recommended service providers list.

All of this forums' posts regarding repairs are interesting to me for possible future reference. But because our coaches are of the same vintage, yours is particularly interesting.
As a point of clarification, when you refer to 'solenoid', are you referring to the starting solenoid on the starter motor or to a starting circuit 'relay' (a relay that would handle the 12volt current draw for the starter motor) in the engine bay? Is it a plug -in relay or hard wired? Where is it located?
Thanx for your help. Never know when I may be dealing with the same issue.
