I once asked why I did not hear the "chirp" when locking and unlocking the door with the remote. Now I find that when the door is locked with the remote, the alarm is not operative, notwithstanding the blinking light by the front door (I used the remote to lock the door, then opened a bay. No alarm sounded).

A recent post on one of the CC lists suggested that there was a toggle switch to control the on-ness or off-ness of the alarm. I'm definitely going to look for it (under the dash, above the throttle pedal), but I wonder if there are any other suggestions as to my alarm's failure to operate. Not that I am paranoid about its absence (we went for twenty years without an alarm on our previous RVs), but since it is there, we want it to work.

Any suggestions are gratefully accepted.

I do not believe the bay pin switches in an Allure are used to activate the alarm, they are used to activate the bay lights only. Feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions.

My 2004 Allure has a multiple position switch under the dash on the side wall above the throttle. it is labeled Normal and Door Only. I have a black round sensor with a white center strip located just above a dash heater vent in the middle of the front wall of the dash. It is a motion sensor that is activated when the switch is in the Normal position and the door is closed. It is very sensitive and therefore you can not have it set to normal if you leave pets in the vehicle unless you don't like your neighbors. I am not sure if all 2004 Allures are equipped that way.
I also am not sure it there is a central position on the switch that completely deactivates the alarm. Mine has been in the Door Only position for years and I really would rather not mess with it now. Many of my pin switches have broken connection pins and wires are loose. That to me would be the same as having a bay door open. However the red light by my door only comes on when I open the entry door. That would tend to verify what you say Kevin.

Our 2004 High Cascade is the same as Don explained. And, ours is also set to door only. (I think it was Don that told me about the switch under the dash, as I asked for help on our first trip. The next door couple were very nice about it, but did 'let us know' our coach had been chirping off and on for the 2 1/2 hours we were gone. Our little gal took a nap during some of our time away, but would get up and move around some and trigger the inside motion detector... I think it was her tail, wagging so much:)!).
