350 hp Cummins 8.3 ISC won't run

Sorry, I should have included a little more info on my original post.

Engine is a Cummins 350 HP ISC 8.3

CoachNet had it towed to the Cummins-Bridgeway facility in Traverse City, Mich.
I think the lift pump is OK. After I changed the filters, it had no trouble delivering fuel to the new filters, and I could hear a little difference in the sound of the pump as the filters came full. There is no fuel leakage as is sometimes described when the lift pump fails.
The engine will start and sputter on 3 or 4 or 5 cylinders and run at idle for 10-15 seconds until it runs out of fuel. After several hours of fooling around cycling the ignition and letting the lift pump deliver fuel each time, I finally called CoachNet.
It was the first day of our annual vacation. Hope it's something simple and Cummins can get at it without a lengthy wait.

Did you try to slightly open one of the injectors to see if you get fuel there when the starter is cranking the engine? This also works to bleed out air in the fuel system. If you first get air, you may want to check all the injectors.
Your description indicates the fuel shut down solenoid is working correctly and the filters have been changed and primed so that leaves trapped air that needs to escape or bad fuel pump I would guess

Thanks Dean, It's sitting in a secured yard right now, but no...I didn't try that. It was running perfectly just 8 hours prior. Parked overnight and then.............nothing. Don't have reason to suspect air in the lines, but the whole thing has me baffled. Back in the 60's and 70's I drove Mercedes diesels for about 15 years and occasionally I'd have to crack the injector lines open to get rid of accumulated air. That sort of gave it a tune up. But this has me stumped. No symptoms at all before it happened

Dave,

I heard of an occasion when a very small and difficult to see crack developed in the fuel filter mount that allowed air to be sucked into the fuel system. I am talking about the aluminum housing the filter screws into. Very hard to find as no fuel was leaking.

Dave, Hope it's a simple issue, but could be your CAPS high pressure fuel pump, I presume you don't have a Silverleaf to look at diagnosic fault codes?

Whatever it turns out to be, it manifested itself overnight. If they find that it is air in the lines, I'll certainly have 'em take a look at that possibility. It's got me buffaloed.

Actually, I DO have Silverleaf. In all the hubbub ( bus full of adult kids and grandkids), it never occurred to me to check that until after the rig was towed.
The only time any of the idiot lights showed anything was when the engine was sputtering and gasping for its' life upon start-up.

Dave,

I have lost the prime twice on my C-9. Both times the cure was to remove the fuel and water separator filter, fill with fuel and reinstalled. If this works, replace both filters with new ones.
Might be worth a try to see if by refilling the current filters to see it will start.
