dimmable LED

We are in the process of changing our interior lights to LED.
We have a 06 Country Coach Affinity. The center lights and the ones in the bedroom are dimmable. Tried the LEDs that worked in the non dimmable ones and they did not work. When turned off they kinda sparked.
First question any LEDs available to replace the 10 watt halogen dimmable to LED dimmable?
Also we have quite a few of non dimmable 10 watt halogen with a different fixture, No glass cover and the bulb holder adjusts a bit They are non dimmable .

Second question any LEDs that would work there?

Most but not all LEDs are now dimmable; you do have to ask the question. There are two options out there and that is to replace the bulb with an LED replacement or replace the complete fixture. I am slowly replacing my halogen lights (complete fixture) one room at a time and have sampled a number of companies and options. You have to be careful of color between cold to warm and in between, I have decided on 3500 K as a compromise between bright white light (5200K) and yellowish (warm 2700K) which does not provide good light but looks nice in the room. I ordered bulbs from a number of companies to get a feel for what is out there. I am using Kaper II which was an original supplier of Country Coach and is now providing LED lighting for RV manufacturers. You also do not want to use an equivalent LED bulb to replace a 10W Halogen as you will much less light. I am using 25W LED in the bathroom for the added light and 15W LED for the bedroom. The lights are expensive but I got tired of changing out the 10W Halogen bulbs and the heat eventually ruins the fixture. When changing out fixtures I keep the old for spares. There is a lot less heat and a lot less juice for boondocking.

i put led lighting in my '06 magna and they worked fine. they were billed as dimmable. however, they would not dim all the way down to "off" in the center sections and the bedroom, i.e. they stayed "on" just enough to be noticeable and to pull power. i'm told that the dimming switches need to be replaced with something that will go down enough in power to shut them off. i'm not an electrical genius, so i'm trusting my guy to get the correct switch for this application. i was part of the group buy that roger harper put together for the leds and, they are indeed dimmable.

the lights are very bright without the dimming capacity! but, they put out no heat...

probably won't be at the coach for sometime...have a hand in a cast...thus the one handed typing. but, can let you know what works in due course.

Gents there are 2 ways to Dim the bulbs. One is by using a rheostat, which was extensively used prior to digital dimming. The rheostat dims by turning the voltage from 12 own to about 6 or 7 volts, at which point the bulb won't come on. If you have a digital style of dimming like in the Intellitec system, you are are switching the full 12 volts off and on . The dimmer you get the more time that the light is off, but all at 12 volts. What happens at those dim positions is that you get a flicker as the light is off more than on. As it was demonstrated to me , that the rheostat system does not provide enough voltage to get a light from the bulb at about 6 to 7 volts. The digital gets the flicker and that can be bothersome. Intellitec system was used by Monaco on my 06 Dynasty, but i don't know when CC started to use them, and on which level of coach. Monaco only srted to use Intellitec on the Dynasty in 06 and all lower coaches used the rheostat system. If you have an Intellitec system you have to be careful not to oversize the bulb too much as you will get flicker when you want them somewhat dimmer. One should probably experiment with LED bulb wattages to see how you use them. On the non dimmable lamps you should select wattages different from the fixed, if dimming is being used a lot Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. We very seldom dim the center and bedroom lights. The rope lights do that for us.
Have you thought out how to convert our switches to off and on. My friend with an Intrigue (05 I think) does not have dimmables.
