Tranny temp gauge

First trip out of the barn after repairing the CAPS and I find that my tranny temp gauge is inop. Maybe a wire was pulled when the techs were knee deep in the bedroom hatch but I doubt it. The question is where to begin looking? Could be the gauge itself or maybe the sensor in the tranny or the run from the tranny to the gauge. Ideas? Lyle Wetherholt

I had the same thing happen to me after the coach came out of service. As I recall, there is a small post mounted to the transmission that a wire slides onto--similar to a spade fitting. Look under the coach in the vicinity of the transmission & see if you see a wire unattached to anything. If so, it is simply a matter of pushing it back onto the post on the transmission.

Lyle, first place to go is underneath coach on what I call the front end of the Allison Trans (end nearest front of coach), you should see the sensor wire hanging down, the connection is a small "spade" type.
I wouldn't think the Tech's were at this location working on the CAPS, but you never know, mine has been pulled off twice during Chassis Lubrication, a shoulder hits it.

I agree with everyone that the connector on the front end of the transmission could have become disconnected. This happened to me and is easy to slide back into position.

A common issue is the temp sensor wire falling off at the tranny.

Thanks to all who led me under the coach to check a dangling wire. They were right. While attempting to reconnect the wire the head of the probe broke off and only a very short stub remains. Will have to invent a way to connect the spade to the stub. What fun! Lyle Wetherholt
