Spell Check

Could we get the Group Members who look over this board to add a "Spell Check" for those of us who make mistakes in our spelling. I don't always proof read and sometimes I don't have my dictionary nearby. Thanks, John 03 Allure 30951

To my knowledge there is no spell check available in Yahoo Groups nor can that ability be added. I will double check with Herb when he returns later this month.

Thanks

You can do a Yahoo spell check by right-clicking in the text area after writing your message. Give it a try.

Whn you write something, if the spelling is incorect a red squiggley line will show under the word, right click it and it will give you some options.
When you write something, if the spelling is incorrect a red squiggly line will show under the word, right click it and it will give you some options. I copied and corrected the above in that manner.

It sounds as if you are asking the list owners to do what you should be doing. Forgive me if I am incorrect.
I have two suggestions. 1) Use the spell checker that comes with your email client (if you use Thunderbird, it is very good). 2) Merriam-Webster.com

Ken, I will forgive you. Seems to me that you didn't read my post. I'm not always at my desk. Sometimes I can't find my reading glasses, and the spelling of a word just evades me. I don't carry my Merriam-Webster in my back pocket. I've seen so many misspelled words on various posts, not just this site, I'd just like to be correct. If they do add a spell check Ken you don't have to use it, you can use Merriam-Webster. Hope this dosen't offend anyone, if it does, go buy a Merriam-Webster. Have a Wonderful Day, John 03 Allure 30951

The Spell Check feature is in the device YOU are using, and not in the Yahoo system. If you right click on any word - at least in my Apple computer- you should get a list of options available , and spell check should be one of them. Maybe one has to learn the device they are using , as spell check should be in all of them.

Ron, I don't have an Apple. It's a Dell a year old, and the spell check is not available. I get no response when I right click on a word. Let's just forget the spell check. I didn't realize it would cause such a problem. John 03 Allure 30951

A simple work around is to compose in WORD, which will automatically highlight misspelled words, then copy/paste.

For those that use Internet Explorer you can download and install a very small program that will give you spell check. It will put a small icon in your tool bar so all you need to do is click on it when you want to check your spelling. It came in handy on this post! In case you are wondering, it's free.
