Cat C10 Starting Problems

Several days ago my Cat wouldn't start, just one click. Problem was never found. A mechanic jumped the start relay and it started right up. I checked the 30 amp fuse and it was ok. It has started ok until today. This time is double or triple clicks and shorts out the 12VDC.
It appears that the starter is hung. I seem to remember someone else had this problem but I forget the final solution. jerry in NM, '00 Magna.
