Spreadsheet for Maintenance Log

I was wondering if anyone if the group has create a spreadsheet for a Coach maintenance log. Looking for something that list all my scheduled items examples would be oil changes, filter change, Chassis lube, Mileage recorder and any other great things to track.

Don - Per a previous posting, there are spreadsheets. I'd opt for an old fashioned poop sheet customized to a specific vehicle. Air filters, for example, have significantly varied life based on dust. On our bus we have an air flow guide to help determine when the intake filter becomes to restrictive. Chassis lube I do on my van every 3K miles when I change the oil. Easy! On the bus full synthetic oil goes 20k (so I'm told). At 800 miles per year I do grease every Spring. The point being some maintenance items work best on mileage while others are best done after an elapse time. Each vehicle is different owing to driving habits and environmental factors.
I think it's of paramount importance to stay in touch with your vehicle. I do a crawl under and around inspection before each trip. For us that works best because we stay parked for 4-8 months at a time. I start up the bus monthly, let things heat up and cycle the transmission. Whilst it's running I keep an eye on things. As for the crawl under, I look for rusted brackets, missing tie wraps, chaffing, fluid leaks, vermin infestation, loose fasteners, air leaks and any other thing(s) that seems out of place. Hub lubricant levels need to be looked at too. I also look for entrapped dirt and stones in cupped areas. Under the vibration dampener is one such place. These get cleaned or blown out. When traveling, I stop frequently to do a walk around, sniff , touch, feel and smell. To include tires and a peak under the ass end of the bus. I also poke my head inside the engine compartment and take a close look. I listen carefully for normal sounds and investigate abnormalities. While underway I watch the gauge vitals by the minute. The goal is to catch something running wild soon before it does damage. This becomes a habit after a while.
A check list is also a good idea to make sure you catch all the "travel ready" items. Making sure your diesel burner is off, for example. This avoids hot exhaust gases (600F) from blowing back onto tires and into the radiator grill. Some things are very easy to overlook. I guess the best check list method is the one you'll use. The old paper system has some merit for us. Like I've said before, "I'm an analog man struggling to survive the digital world!"
New this travel cycle for us will be a wireless camera to keep constant tabs on the engine compartment during travel. Stay in touch with your equipment (before, during and after)!! Safe travels.

Don - I have developed a Excel based preventative maintenance program for my coach that has close to 100 preventative maintenance items specific to my coach and chassis. It has monthly, semi annual, annual, & less that annual items. It will indicate when items are due and past due. For a small fee I would work with you to develop it for your coach.

Hi all.

I'm having a different problem. My refrigerator section is freezing (28 degrees).
I know the thermistor is moved up on fin to lower the temp. raised up tomake the temp higher.
The fins are frosting over on the lower portion.
Any ideal on what to test.

I was told that moving the thermistor to the left made it colder so maybe moving it to the right might work.

I have the same refer. As strange as it may seem, lowering the thermistor actually raises the temperature. A call to Donetic should confirm this.

Just go to this group's "Files" link (on the left hand side of the page) and look for the "InspireMaintTimer.xls" and "MaintTimer.xls" files.
I use an expanded version of these spreadsheets I've modified for my particular coach (see, below). My version has 31 items, including 11 for the Onan generator.
I just added my version (MaintTimer-v30791.xls) to this group's "Files" collection.

I know about the thermistor position. Up to lower temp. down to raise. I've lowerd the thermistor several times and still getting below freezing temps in the refig. section. Fins frosting over. Right now I trying to keep the temp above freezing by opening the door and warming. But when it sets for a few hours the refer cools to freezing again. Just about an hour ago I raised the temp to 65 degrees and it is 31 degrees now.

The 1492 model is discontinued; however, Dometic support is still available. I suggest you give them a call at 800 544 4881. They have very helpful to me in the past.

How cold is it where you are?

Do the buttons at the top make any difference?
My refer side was freezing but it was cold outside and I had it set on light four. This was in August.
I use one of the refer fans that you can get off ebay to keep the frost off my fins and it does a good job.

I recently developed frost on the fins on my 1492. Called Dometic. Was told this is due to bad door sealing. Cleaned door seals and frame. Problem solved.

The outside temp here where we are at is low in the 40's highs in the 60's. Buttons on top are set on #2. Have tried different settings higher settings lower the refer. temp. I have two battery operating refer fans, one pointing up and one pointing down.
I called Dometic tech support and they said their instructions for the symptions. Check electric convictions 12 volt AC 120. Test the temp synser for resistance. (6500 to 8500 oms). Check the upper board connections. All within limits. This morning the frig temp was 42 degrees. I think maybe taking the connections off and on the circuit board at the back of the refer did the trick. Just a wait and see right now.
