Route around Dallas

We are currently parked on Lewisville Lake just off I-35E north of Dallas. Tomorrow we leave for Shreveport, LA. The shortest route will take us south to I-635 east to US-80 and I-20. I-635 is under construction and one is closed for miles. The alternative is Hwy-380 east to Greenville then work our way southeast to I-20. Has anyone dealt with this lately?

Jerry, don't take 635, it is a nightmare. It's probably not on the maps yet, but Hwy 190, the new George Bush Tollway, will get you around Dallas and save you probably 10-20 miles. You are close to Bush now. Take I-35 South from Lake Lewisville through Lewisville. When you see the Hwy 121 sign be in the right lane, Bush Tollway will be coming up next. Take Bush (Hwy 190) EAST and this will lead you to I-20 East to Shreveport. It's probably 15-20 miles to I-20. Don't worry about toll booths because there are none, they will bill you. I don't know the actual cost, but it will probably be in the $10.00-15.00 range. It's well worth it as you will avoid all of the construction, traffic and shorten the distance around Dallas. I live about 4-5 miles from the Bush Tollway in Rockwall, Texas and have made that trip many times. Happy trails

We take the 380 West route every time thru Greenville. we prefer it over the other routes.
