New Mattress Time

Old question, it;s time to replace ''queen mattress'' on our 2006 Allure. when I close slides they squeeze mattress in about 3 inches. I was told that's no problem that a tall person needed the extra length is that a problem, or did I get a wrong answer, I'm 6ft myself?????? Also what brand or doe's it matter, can we put a standard queen mattress in the coach. were partial to Sterns & Foster as one of the best, we've had for years at home.

We replaced our mattress (short queen) in our '04 Allure bedroom slide with Bed In A Box. www.bedinabox.com We bought the 11" Pacbed Original with Gel (plus $100) for coolness. We love it. Had it for about 6 months and no more hip and back pain. They do make a 9" but the 11" is more firm. Their RV Queen fits perfectly on our platform. It comes delivered (free shipping) in a box. Weighs 70 lbs. size is 60x75x11. Their Regular Queen is 60x80x11. 20 year warranty. Great reviews on www.rv.net forum.
When it arrives, you take the box inside, put it on the platform, open the box, remove (carefully) the shrink wrap and allow the mattress to open. voila! instant matttress.

We put a standard top of the line queen mattress in our coach at about 3/4 of the price the supplier to CC wanted ( shipping from Portland OR would have been extra ). I am sure we got a better mattress than the supplier to CC would have sold us. The only issue is the square versus rounded corners but it's not a big deal , just a little tight putting the bed cover on. We got to try it in the store and the OR supplied product was not returnable, so we feel we went the best way.

We have a queen (original OEM) that was never used. It is Free to anyone who wants to pick it up.
