The sound of Tanks being flushed, that is the question

Yahoo Message Number: 83725
Hi Gang,

Grey/Black tanks flushing. I have followed the pictures, I think they were from Dallas, on removing the nozzles and cleaning them. I also over sized drilled the holes.
I just flushed the tanks again today, not right next to the freeway where I usually dump/flush, so I could hear well. I noticed that the sound of the water going in on the Sewage Tank, was much quieter in comparison to the water going into the Grey Tank.
Now, I expect all of you very carefully listen to the water going into flush your tanks:)! Do any of you recall hearing a remarked differences? I was thinking it might be the location of the nozzles in relation to where they enter the tanks?
I do seem to get good flow out of the both tanks as they are being flushed, and run the hose at the same high pressure for the same amount of time.
If you have noticed the sound, and they seem to be the same, I suppose I'll take the nozzle out again and see if they have become blocked again.
Thanks, you may now return to your equally intersting Political s:)! (Sorry, just seems to be the same volume of extract associated with the black/sewage tank, and soo many of the adds:)!)

Best to all,
Smitty

Sounds like your one way valve is bad. Mine is located in the bathroom sink cabinet.

I have checked my one way in the bathroom and it works. Looking for information on how to access the connection on the black tank? Skip 02/Intrigue

Skip,

On my '03 the nozzle is on the passenger side in the same bay as the Hurricane behind a fiberglas panel. It's not hard to get to. I drilled mine to 1/8" and it works better now. As far as the sound difference between the grey and black tank wash, my grey tank wash is much louder than the black but, the black is working fine. I use a clear fitting to be able to see what is happening (squint when observing!)

My black tank flush nozzle is on the passenger side in the same compartment as the hurricane heater. I had to cut an access hole in the fiberglass cover to get to it. I think others have cut a hole and that CC may have also shipped some units with a hole cut there.

I cut the access to add a flush valve for the grey tank.

I could take a picture if it helps.

On my Intrigue the flush fitting is on the driver side, it goes in and up into the bathroom cabinet to the one way valve. From there back down and across to the passenger side above the hydro hot. Mine has a Velcro fiberglass cover. you can remove the connector and check the flow. If the flow is good remove the fitting on the tank and pull out and clean or drill out the holes.

Thanks for the info sharing on your rig's Grey/Black flushing:)!
Greg Jones - It was the sound difference that surprised me, glad to hear your's is this way too....
Skip - I also had access via a panel over on the passenger side bay's. Easy in and out, but if I remember, I had to use a 90 degree angle phillips screw driver to get the screws out of the nozzle.
I went 1/8 overside drilling too, and from what I remember, it was a post from Dallas that had pictures on his. (May have not been Dallas, but he did so many pictues of his projects, probably was. Very mucn like Scott today!)
I did not know about the check valve, and that maybe becoming restricted some, as when I turn off the hose to the black tank and remove the hose, water will back drain our of this female attachment area much more then on the Grey tank...
I do hear water draining from the black tank, so no water is making it into the tank from this cleaning spray - the question was at what pressure, due to the softer sound.

Best to all, may all your tanks be clean and flowing free:)! Smitty
