Has Country Coach Quality Turned The Corner?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but after reading all the horror stories regarding Hurricane Heaters, Toyo tires, Zip-dee awnings and a multitude of other things, we embarked and returned from 3,700 miles of southwest Colorado mountains unscathed! The only things that didn't work was the dash air and the inability to capture satellie tv on a consistant basis. I'll take this any day.

Our coach now has 6,800 miles on it. Would be anxious to hear from other people with coaches manufactured during the months of march/april 2003.

Our coach is a '97 Allure we bought used and I can't praise it enough. It is quite a move up from our bus conversion mostly because the quality parts are integrated from conception. Although we have little things to adjust and repair, overall the Country Coach quality and design shine through. Since my wife, 3 small children and I like some simplicity, when we trade in the future, I hope the newer CC's are not overwhelmed with gadgetry. Although I can fix most anything, does anyone know the best place to get yearly service and checkup close to Southwestern Indiana. Would it be the Knoxville, TN Buddy Gregg? Knoxville is 6 hours from Evansville, IN.

I have an Intrigue built around the same timeframe. My problems have been primarily inconveniences. I have the Hydro Hot vice the Hurricane. It heats the coach just fine, but does not provide hot water because it apparently was never completely installed. The only way I get hot water now is with propane. I plan to have the electrical, motoraide and hydro hot installed during the next service.
I too, have an intermittant dash AC. Sometimes it cools the driver and heats the shotgun, and vice versa, etc.
The engine starter problem (three starters in the first 400 miles) has apparently been resolved. I have not had to use the special "mechanical agitation device" for months.
I do have two engine oil leaks, one at the forward part of the oil pan and the other near where it begins to angle up. Did you know the low profile oil pan is a composit material built by Fleetguard and installed by CC? This is according to the Cummins rep here at the CCI Class Reunion Rally.
One new problem started last week while driving down the freeway. The living room/galley slide began to come out. Fortunately, it stopped after about two inches. If it continued I was going to get my a "Wide Load" sign, convert the toad to an escort vehicle and have my wife clear the way!
I am presently scheduled for service on 9/29, afterwhich I expect to have the perfect coach.

Chuck, I had the cool the driver-heat the passenger syndrome, too, and found that the passenger siide controls have a definite influence on the driver if set in the extremes. For example, my side would not cool at all, but I found the spouse's controls were all the way on the warm side. If the wife's side controls are used for tweaking temperature, then the driver side seems to be controllable--and vice-versa.
Regarding oil leaks, while I can't tell what engine you have, the Cummins ISL has experienced valve cover breakage problems allowing oil to seep down the sides or front/rear of the engine with no particular pattern.. I have an early 2003 and had to have the bolts replaced by Cummins.

I just finished a week at CC for service. One of the items was the dash AC/heat. They replaced a solenoid that was controlling the vacuum operated doors which channel the heat or ac to the various outlets. I haven't had an opportunity to really check it out, yet. Its been so cold here in Oregon that if I turned on the AC I'm afraid it would spit ice cubes at me. However, initial impression while driving from CC to Carrier to Cummins Northwest is maybe it is fixed, at least the heat part.
I am presently sitting in Cummins NW parking lot waiting for my Monday appointment to check on the ISL leak. CC made the appointment for me then told me it will cost me about $1200 to replace the oil pan. CC claims I bottomed out and damaged it, of course it won't happen again because I am now the proud owner of brand new skid plate!!

I'm hoping for the valve cover leak.
