With my 2000 Magna, I usually don't dump the air out of the bags prior to leveling unless I want to put the entry steps closer to the ground. I level while the engine is running and then put out my slide and recheck level. Leveling this way does not use the HWH pump since the engine compressor is supplying air.
Should I dump the bags, I still do the initial leveling with the engine running, then extend the slide.
The HWH air pump will run when the engine is off and one pair of air bags needs to be inflated to level the coach. If the main air tanks air pressures are low, the HWH pump will run for about 15 minutes, then shut off without leveling the coach. The HWH control panel will then show the excess slope light. I believe this is happening because the small HWH air pump is trying to fill the main air tanks as well as inflate the appropriate air bags because the system works fine if the main air tanks have 100 psi or so of air pressure.
PS It helps others respond if you list your coach number with your post.
