Roof top a/c replacement

Yahoo Message Number: 84977
I currently have 3 penquin ac/heatpump airconditioners on my coach with one four button thermostat controlling all three units and the system is ducted. I would like to remove all three and replace with 3 new brisk air units (457915) which I know do not have the heat pump and are just A/C. My question is what else is needed for this conversion. Can I buy 3 brisk air A/C's (457915) and a new CCC 2 thermostat (3314082) and will this be a simple plug in to the rj-11 cables like before and run all 3 units from this thermostat CCC 2, and control the different zones with the remote sensors through the new CCC 2 thermostat. Do I need any other parts from dometic to make this work.

Seems to me , whatever your name is, that you should tell the person you are buying the new units from, what you have and will it work. If it is a reputable company, solving your issue should be no problem.
I think we would need more info that you have given. It is courtesy to post your name , coach model year and CC serial number EVERY time you post. That way , if it is a 1998, someone with a similar coach has an idea of your set up. I have an 09 Magna and have NO idea what is on a1998 model !! Lately we have had a number of posters, who don't give enough info and every one trying to help is wasting a lot of time and energy trying to help, when the proper info would shorten the issue .

Ron, you are exactly right on needing all of the particulars on someones coach in order to help them. Even the length makes a difference. A few years ago we had a poster that had a problem with his Hydro Hot on an Allure. Everyone was trying to help him, but couldn't solve the problem. I had a 37' Allure and when I found out he had a 37' also, I was able to solve his problem. The larger coaches had a slightly different system, so the length was important on that issue. This is great forum and if you have the same exact coach as someone else, chances are the problem can be solved.

Friends have been through this with friends, Have your Installer call Dometic and upgrade to the five currant build 5 button controller and make sure your newer units have the Mother Boards needed for the Five Button Controller interface. Your looking at a lot of problems and down time if you dont. Again make sure these new units you wish to install meet this Five Button interface! Most inmprtant the Zones in your case 1,2 and 3 are matched to the corrasponding roof air. Keep us posted Ken 99 Allure two roof airs 30356.

Sorry Ron, my name is John, I have a 1998 affinity 40 ft. I have one bad ac, instead of buying a new penquin and new boards for the other two a/c's plus a thermostat. I figured I would buy 3 new a/c's without the heat pump option since I don't use it anyway. I figured for 500 dollars more I could have 3 new brisk air a/c's instead of keeping my old a/c's. I have called dometic twice and gotten different answers on what I need. When I call different rv sales they say they need to call dometic and confirm what I need. That's why if anyone knows if I can just buy new brisk air a/c's they should have new circuit boards compadable with the ccc2 thermostat. Do I need any relay boards or anything else to run different zones from that ccc2 thermostat. Or will that ccc 2 thermostat control everything with the boards that come standard in the new brisk airs. Thanks for the input. John

John Thanks for the response. I would think the supplier of the NEW equipment should know what sort of thermostats you require. After all , they designed and built it and would usually have the thermostats , etc to make it work. 3 roof units on a coach, working from one thermostat is a very ordinary set-up. I am surprised that who ever you are buying the new stuff from can't answer the question. I sold heating and A/C equipment for residential and commercial use for 30 years, and this is a very standard question- what do you need to make the equipment work. On occasion, a customer would come with a new request for controlling the equipment and I would be able to confirm if it would work or not The supplier must surely have the answer. Hope this helps.
