Moderator comments about "Advertisements"

From the moderator:

I have been sitting back while I watched the discussion about "s" take place. I am pleased with the strong support for the position I believe I have been taking. Now it is my turn to close the subject.
I have been allowing some postings (aka "s") by those businesses who contribute to or monitor this forum and/or help members find parts or solutions to their problems. I try to block dealers from advertising coaches for sale although one or two have slipped through. All new members (that includes dealers, parts and service folks signing up) are automatically placed on moderation. This allows me to reject and ban spammers. It also allows me to review Ads they have attempted to placed and most likely reject them, especially when the posting shows no knowledge of our forum purpose or content. If someone is starting a new service center, I will allow that announcement posting (and typically limit those to once a year) by keeping them on moderation.
We have to be thankful for our Country Coach techs who have started businesses and are providing assistance to us. We all know that questions get asked over and over again, so apparently some members probably need to be reminded where to get a part by the members and techs who chime.
I believe this round of discussion started with several companies chiming in about availability of refrigerator replacements. Understanding the fire hazards, I welcomed the knowledge of supply and availability of their replacements to protect the life of our members.
I have never seen anyone attempt to advertise on the CCO forum that their company sells best toilet deodorizer!
I welcome members to recommend most companies (not RV dealers) and techs that are available in the requested areas. I believe they are sincere recommendations to get another member back on the road or Country Coach enhanced
Finally, I would like to remind folks that once a message is posted by any un-moderated member, it gets delivered to the subscribers of INDIVIDUAL MESSAGES and also get placed into the next DAILY DIGEST ? no matter how quickly I can delete it. I may be later taking action behind the scene about that post. I typically watch this using the DAILY DIGEST, and will release most moderated messages with my smartphone to speed their posting.

Herb,

This forum has been tremendously helpful to me since I purchased my CC in May 2005. I deeply appreciate the effort you have expended, behind the scenes, to make this possible.

CCO messages as spam to AOL

Bob,

If you were subscribed to Daily Digest, something in an ongoing discussion might look like spam to AOL for a few days. But you are receiving Individual Messages, so I don't have an answer as to why it would be happening to every message.
When looking at the AOL SPAM folder, there might be an option to select one of the CCO messages and mark it is "Not Spam". That should prevent futures messages from CCO being treated as SPAM.
It is also best when posting a new topic to not HiJack a message thread on a different topic. Start a new post.

Herb,

Another group that I belong to on Yahoo has also had similar problems with messages going to Spam in AOL and with other e-mail providers. It has something to do with Yahoo they tell me.
