Hi Bobby,

There are 3 wires connected to the fuel gauge: Gnd (grn), +12vdc IGN (wire 34 yel) and the tank sensor input (wire 37 brn) from the 90 ohm variable resistor located in the tank. Also, there is a 90 ohm resistor connected between wire 34 and wire 37 on the terminal posts of the gauge. Generally, your indication is an open line between the tank sensor and the gauge. Wire 37 from the gauge goes through connector DP (located about 1 foot away) and then through connector DC2 and then to the connector on top of the tank where I would check first. A continuity check (using a multtimeter)with wire 37 disconnected at the gauge should read no more than 95 ohms with respect to ground and could be all the way down to 0-1 ohms if the tank is empty. (ref schematic #S0423.08 and foldout #S0699) Good Luck,

Bobby:

I have been through this problem also. After extensive measurements and testing , thinking the gage was bad etc, the problem was the sending unit in the tank. To shorten your work load of testing I would like to recomend the following:

Think thin. The space above the fuel tank is tight but accessable. Lay over the propane tank and reach over the frame. The sending unit bolts into the top of the tank near the rear passenger side. You need a good portable light. Disconnect the one wire which is a spade connector. It is probably that 37 wire Fred references. Next use an OHM meter and see if you have any reading between the spade connector on the sending unit and a clean ground connection. The resistance of the sending unit gauge depends on the fuel level.

Now if you read open circuit the sender is bad. The fun begins. The sender comes out by removing the 5 or six bolts on the metal disk on the top of the tank. There is room to remove the sender. Warning..... remember how it comes out. It looks like the holes are equally spaced but they are not. It only goes back one way but it is sutle.
Country Coach stocks the senders and they are not too expensive. It is surprizing how simple the devise is and a wonder it works so well.
I trust this may be of some help.
