Fan Controller default switch

Yahoo Message Number: 86047
Hi, many times we have seen discussions about the installation of a switch that would cause the radiator fan to default to hi-speed. However, can't find any reference to it in the archives.
Has anyone reading this installed such a switch, and would you mind sharing info on how one would install that switch and where to tap into the control wire.
I recall it was somewhere in the Elex. compartment under the driver's seat.

Jim,

I installed the switch on my 2004 Allure. In my case there was a 7.5 amp fuse located in the chassis fuse box on the back wall of the gay under the driver's side window. It was marked Fan Controller. Pulling the fuse will kill the 12 v dc supply to the controller and it defaults to high fan speed by design. I installed the SPST 12 v switch in a convenient place on the dash and wired it in series with the fuse. As long as it is in series with the fuse either pulling the fuse or throwing the switch will force the fan to high speed. It saved my butt a number of times.
I have to caution you that in giving detailed instruction to another group member several months ago, we found that his controller was somehow wired off the Over the Road AC relay. Once he figured out that out he was successful in getting the switch to work.
If you need more detailed instructions by all means drop a me PM and I will get back to you.

Yes Jim, indeed as Don said, I was succesfull finding the right wire # and the switch works well.

I had Butch Williams from Fountain RV checking the SD controller and findings were OK. Since Cat 13 runs its operating temp around 200-220 I experience a nice benefit from that control switch.
Need more info, let me know and I will give you wire # and relay.
