Interior Overhead Fluorescent Fixtures

I have 3 overhead fluorescent units in my coach. I was thinking about changing these lights and putting in LEDS. Has anyone done this? Jim

Jim the easy way is to buy the led bulbs. They are available all over now. Last year I got tired of changing bulbs and converted all 9 of my overhead fluorescent lights and most of the other bulbs. I purchased the leds from ebay (Much cheaper). You do need to be a hobbyist and good with a small soldering iron to do it the way I did.. I posted pictures on the second page of photos section. If you have questions feel free to contact me.

Lowell, Thanks for the information and the photos, when you ordered what appears to be a roll or reel of led lights did you specify color and how is the lumens or light output compared to the fluorescent. Thanks again.

Jim, I used white and with 2 strips the length of the fixture, my wife wanted them brighter. I ended up with 4 strips in all but the bathroom where I added a 5th strip in the middle for added brightness. You can now get connectors to slide on the strips that would simplify the process. I used a hot glue gun to help hold the strips in place since the 3m tape did not stay put.
