Flojet water pump

Yahoo Message Number: 86418
My Flojet water pump on my 2006 Intrigue stopped pumping water. I can hear it running, but it doesn't pump. I am on the road (of course it would stop while I am on the road and don't have much time to work on it. ) and a quick look leads me to believe it will be a bear to get it out. I think I have to take off the cover to the plumbing. There are numerous outlets through and attached to the board covering it. Will all of those water outlets just unscrew and make it easy?

I have rebuilt pumps in the past, but I think I will just replace this one if a new pump can match the fittings. I don't know the model of it yet. I have to get to it first. I would appreciate help from anyone who has already encountered and solved this problem..

Thanks,

Hi Gene,

On my 2006 Intrigue the water pump is behind a small panel to the lower left in the plumbing bay and is not hard to get to. I assume you already checked to make sure the water filter is not clogged.

Gene - My bus is a different model but the same year so ignore my response if you feel it's inappropriate. My pump conked out too some years ago and I replaced it with a SHURflo on demand pump. I recall the connections being somewhat standard both in size and alignment to the FloJet it replaced. An often overlooked parameter of a pump is its current draw. The old pump was 10A and the new one is 15A given it's a bit more capable. I went with a more powerful pump to avoid swollen prostate water flow. In my bus, the Intellitec system controls the pump from a "Water Pump" button. Keep in mind that control maxes out at 10A.
I needed to add an extra control relay with a 15A fuse to correctly resolve the problem of the pump's current draw exceeding what the Intellitec system handles. I'm in about 4 years now with this install and so far so good. Something to consider, perhaps, as you work through your replacement. The goal is to solve the problem, not just delay the next repair. Good luck and safe travels.

There are some new models out there that have improved flow control to reduce noise and cycling. There is a 4008 which is 3gpm and 4048 which is 4gpm and I don't believe you have the fuze amperage issue. They both have 55 lbs pressure which for may coach was an upgrade from 45 lbs. Available on Amazon . The Shurflo Extreme5.7 had a lot of issues and I don't believe is now available also if you do much booddocking you do not want to get carried away with water pressure and volume.

Gene,

If the pump runs constantly I would check to be sure that the fresh water tank fill valve is closed.

Good luck.
