Allure changes or how does CC make any $$

I have enjoyed the posts on this subject and tho many may skip for more tech type info.....we may be at the heart of the future economic health of our manufacture. Example from American Coach....just ditched the American Dream because with more goodies and price hike the American Tradition was an overlay of the Dream. So for 2004.....no more Dream and more distinction between the Tradition and the American Eagle. A salesman at major dealer said there is a lot of discontent with the "downgrading"...his words...of the Monaco Windsar but look at the line=up: Windsar 200K+....Dynesty 300K.....Executive 400K....Sig 500K. And lots of product below these prices in Monaco...Holiday Rambler and Beaver lines plus all the other competition....ever hear of the Revolution(Fleetwood). The hugh baby boomers market is not likely to start in the 300K PLUS MARKET are they? but more likely the @200K market to test RV waters. So how does CC posture to make $$ or more likely to send earnings to parent company? Would like to hear more on this but will not be surprised if it goes into the black hole.

My feelings exactly. I just attended the home coming rally, and a third of the attendees were first timers. I must have talked to at least a dozen current owners who were looking to buy something new, but felt CC had left them behind. The fact is CC is now supplying a very limited and declining market. Perhaps National feels they have things covered with their lower grade coaches, but I don't think their owners or CC owners will jump to each others brands. Frankly, it I were looking for something new, (I'm not), I would have to look somewhere else, as CC just doesn't build anything I want. Sad as our current 2000 32' Allure just what we wanted, and our 4th Country Coach.

I started this, so......

My reason for posting what I learned at the factory was so those who are familiar with the Allure, and are thinking about buying a new one will know that these changes, one of which is impossible to know about (the elimination of one layer of sound deadening in the floor) and the other, the cheapening of the slide sealing flanges, have taken place. One, you will get less coach than you may have expected. Two, if the perceived value of the Allure is lessoned, due to these and other possible downgrades, you may expect to see less trade-in value later, even those of us with Allures that were built with higher quality.

Product distinction is necessary, but the heart of the future economic health of CC is efficiency and attention to detail.
At the factory, I asked if the support techs logged all the cust calls into a database, so that they could spot reoccurring problems. The answer was no. The tech you talk with knows the history of your calls, on your coach, but has no way to know that other techs have answered similar calls on other coaches. This can result in wasted time diagnosing and solving problems. The dealers know even less. If you go into the dealer with a problem, they start from scratch. This does not bother them, as they get paid by the hour. If they had the ability to use the internet to check known problems, they may get to the root of the problem quicker, and for less money.

Hi, David

The first I saw the new type sealing flange was at the factory tour. Up till then, all 03 models I had seen had the "inset" type, same as cabinet door, where the slide has a return flange, and closes "flush" with the coach, with a small "reveal" all around the opening. Of course, it takes more time to make the slide fit in the opening, flush and with a constant reveal all around. (remember the Lexas commercial with the ball bearing they would roll down the match line of the hood and front fender to show the quality?) With the new "picture frame" flange overhanging the opening in the side of the coach, it just closes against the side of the coach, and you do not have to worry about the fit in the opening, the flange hides it.

You could ask the factory as to when they omitted the sound proofing.

Bill,

Sorry that I didn't report back to you after my last meeting with the focus group. I did, as I said that I would, bring up that question. The response was a definitive YES. They do record, track and analyze recurring problems. Maybe they don't yet have that info easily available to the phone tech or the dealer service folks. If they do I'm not aware of it.
I also met privately with the MANAGER, SERVICE SYSTEMS, TRAINING & RESOURCES (long title that I think means he is the head techie) and the plan is under way to put it ALL on their web site... available to everyone for research, queries, etc.

Again, sorry I neglected to follow up with you.
