wiring res. reefer to inverter

Have decided to install a residential reefer, but am having trouble with how to hook it to run on the inverter. Have a Magnum MS 2012-20B on order to replace the old Heart 2000 inverter. Coach is a 99 Allure . Anyone done this swap on a coach this old and how you were able to power it up?

Aside from replacing your inverter (which I assume had/has issues, therefor replacing) some re-wiring needs to be done to change the refer plug from the main load center to the sub-load center. The main load center is only "Hot"? from shore or gen power, while the sub-panel is "hot"? from inverter power or from power passing thru inverter from shore/gen.
Bottom line: you need to un-hook the refer from the main panel and move it over to the sub-panel - of course not just the hot lead, also neutral & ground. If there's room in the sub-panel you should be able to re-use the circuit breaker from the main, if the sub-panel is full, then get a split (single/double) breaker, then whatever breaker you pull out of the sub-panel will accept the current load as well as the new refer load.
None of this is hard if you're comfortable working with wires..... IF not then I'd suggest finding a qualified tech to help out...

Unless the icemaker for the nocold is run off the inverter then just use that plug. A lot of the no colds were wired so the icemaker ran off the inverter and the nocold ran off the shore or jenny.

Not sure about a 99' Allure, but on my 99' Magna, I think the main panel and the subpanel are in 2 totally different locations. Main panel is in the bedroom, sub panel is in the first bay behind the front axle.

Bill - Here's what I did.

http://www.muniac.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=148#Post148 I'm still on the Norcold which works fine. That said, rewiring the refrigerator plug is refrigerator specific. The best scenario is being able to replace a full width breaker with a 1/2 width one that creates an extra circuit in your inverter sub-panel. I think some of the Magna folks can do this. In my case, half height breakers have already been used. All four circuits (Microwave, PS outlets, DS outlets, Entertainment) are busy powering other loads. So I don't have a spare circuit. And it isn't easy to create one and there's no easy and ideal solution either. I share the Entertainment circuit during traveling which allows me to avoid running the generator. This has worked fine for us. Good luck with it.
