Window treatment & carpet

Yahoo Message Number: 6425
Hi Group,

Has anyone replaced their window surrounds or carpet?
I'm thinking that an interior make over might be cheaper than a new coach!
Does CC make their own surrounds and upholster them or do they go to an outside supplier.

If you have replaced the carpet were there any pitfalls?

Thanks,

Hi, David

The surrounds look like they would be easy enough to change. We are considering changing the pleated shades out for silhouettes in the living room area. We have them in our home, and saw them in some of the new coaches. It gives a little more of a finished look to the coach. This will require me making new surrounds that are a bit deeper to fit the wider shades. I am installing one in the bath, now. I put bead board to the window bottom, with a cap mldg. I am faux finishing the wall above, adding a silhouette, and a new cornice above the window. Just about done with this area. So far we have installed a new sofa, larger plasma TV, new copilot seat for Lenore, took out the original desk and added a second chair.
Planning on tearing out the mirrors in the bath and one area of the kitchen and tiling the backsplash. This should keep me busy.

There were some people at the factory when I was there that had completely gutted the unit and started over. Their coach was about 3 years old and they decided that they would rather re-do it than start fixing a new coach. Makes sense to me!
The window surrounds were white or off-white "leather", similar to the ceiling. They put in white leather furniture. Created a very mono-tone interior. I think that the reasoning was that then they could add color when and where they wanted rather than trying to match the "ugly" stuff that came in the rig. They had redone the floor as well. They put a tile strip down the center of the living area--a little carpet in front of the sofa and under the recliner. It looked "interesting", but if I was doing it, I would have all tile then use rugs when I wanted them.
They had the window stuff done someplace in JC. I would think that any good upholstery shop could do it.
