New Tire Update & Ride Height/Alignment Specs

Yahoo Message Number: 87791
We took delivery of our 2006 Allure in Tampa and got tires put on it right away at Callaghan Tires in Tampa. We used the FMCA Michelin deal which was very easy and seamless. They did a great job and had us back on the road in just a couple of hours.

I bought Dynabeads and took them with us to Callaghan. So far they have performed very well, the ride is very smooth and feels balanced perfectly.

We put 315's all around including the tag axle. The spacing on the duals using the 8.25" rims is perfect, more than adequate (this was confirmed prior to ordering through the Tire and Wheel assoc spec page on 8.25" x 22.5" rims)

Here are the details and pricing:

8 Michelin 315/80R22.5 XZA2 Energy Total Paid to FMCA: $5477.28 (includes FET and Sales Tax) Total paid to Callaghan: $387.88 (new valve stems, mounting/balancing & tax) Dynabeads total: $233.34 (8 12oz packages - 1 per wheel)

Grand total of $6098.50 = $762.31 Not too bad! :-)

I wholeheartedly recommend the FMCA program, the pricing is unbeatable!

Now that I have new tires, I want to have the alignment checked. I did experience some minor wandering which I also want checked. I have found a great alignment shop, but they would like the factory specs for the ride height and suspension. I search the forums and looked in the files section, but didn't see any specs specifically for my 2006 Allure.

I see that John Davis of JDRV has this pdf document, but it references different years, not specifically the 2006 Allure.

Can someone point me to detailed specs for the ride height and suspension?

Thanks!
Dan

Upon looking a little closer at the pdf from JDRV, it shows specs for the following IFS models that he has specs for:

Ridewell IFS 284 Suspensions

Holland/Neway IFS-114-CC Independent Front Suspension Tuthill IFS1260 Front Suspension

Tuthill IFS 1660S-SB Independent Front Suspension Liquid Spring IS200C IFS

Neway AD-200 Drive Axle Suspensions Neway ADL-120 & ADL-123 Drive Axle Suspensions Tuthill RD2300 Rear Suspension

Ridewell 227 Series Drive Axle Suspensions Ridewell 246 Series Two Air Spring - Drive/Tag Axle Suspensions Ridewell 246 Series Four Air Spring - Drive/Tag Axle Suspensions Ridewell 246 Series Four Air Spring - Drive/Steerable Tag Axle Suspensions
How do I figure out which one my coach has? I don't have the build sheet and I don't see it anyplace on the equipment list.

Thoughts?

Dan,

If you don't have the original documentation for the coach the only way to know for sure is to take a look underneath. There will be a tag attached to the front suspension members somewhere that will give you all the info you need to identify it.

We had the ride height adjusted at the factory in Oregon. They have all the specs. I would call them.

We have a 2007 Allure purchased in the past year. We put new on Michelins thru FMCA - good deal. The best investment so far though was to change out the stock front shocks and install Koni adjustables set on firm (done at Colten truck outside of LA) - really reduced the porpoising - rides great now.

Dan, Barney has suggested the correct move, crawl under and look at the plate on the front of the IFS suspension, but you most likely have the Holland/Neway IFS 114-CC Model.
I may have missed what tires you took off the coach upon putting on the XZA2 Energy 315's, but not only should you have the alignment checked buy also the Ride Height adjusted.
In addition your new 315's are per Michelin Spec's are 41.3" in outside diameter which shows 503 Revolutions per Mile. You should check to see what the Revolutions Per Mile were on the tires you took off. If more or less, your Speedometer MPH and Miles Per Gallon will not be accurate. This Parameter can be changed via Cummins or Cat changing that particular parameter through their software "laptop" change, takes about 10 minutes but may cost $100 to $150 for them to do it.

Did you have any wandering and did the Koni's help it any or were they more to improve the overall ride?
Any idea what model # they used? What was the approx cost? I'm many miles from LA, but can maybe give my alignment shop enough info to find some.

Thanks!

I won't be at my coach for several days: but, I believe I have all the documentation and my coach number is four after your build.

Let me know what you want.

Hi,

I am going to get under it tomorrow and see if I can figure out which IFS I have. Yours should be the same, but you never know! Is your documentation for the ride height the same as is posted on JDRV? I would love to see whatever docs you have.

Is your IFS the Holland/Neway IFS 114-CC?

Thanks!

I have Koni FSD 88051012 on the steer axle: Konin FSD 91051002 on the drive axle; and Koni FSD 88051011 on the tag. I have no wandering or bottoming out. I would call Koni

I believe they have a newer shock now for the heavier coaches. They have been critical of the model shocks that CC put on the heavy coaches. They said they were not consulted on the appropriateness.

From my binder: Front suspension Holland Neway IFS
Rear Suspension for tag axle chassis: Ridwell RD 246 drive and tag axle

Ride height 71/2

Hope this helps
