CAT information display flashing / Bully Dog Tuner

Yahoo Message Number: 87987
I have a 2000 CC Affinity with a CAT c12
The info display on the dash works find until you start the motor and put it in gear. It then flashes rapidly as if it was not getting enough power to boot up. Anyone had this problem? I am thinking about replacing it with a Bully dog Tuner System, but this is a very expensive fix.

That might not fix the problem. There is a data wire that comes from the engine ECM and connects to the transmission and antilock brakes and operates your gages and Silverleaf (if that is what you are talking about}. I'm assuming your loosing your dash gages and Silverleaf. Does it work before you put it in gear with the engine running and only quits working when you put the transmission in gear? Do the gages quit when the transmission is in drive and reverse? My first guess would be you probably have some corrosion in the data wire connecting all these components together if you don't have a failure in one of the components. There are also resistors at each end of the data wire that can go bad. I had a screw rub thru the insulation on my data wire and corroded thru and took out my gages completely.
