2003 Magna Plasma Screen Replacement

Did some searching in the database and through the photos looking for information on replacing the drop down plasma screen on a 2003 magna. Any experience out there with photos?

I imagine you have a Panasonic 42 inch plasma. As far as picture goes plasma still gives the best results and cost the most. It is not affected by magnetic fields from near by speakers or other sources. They do have issues however. They draw a lot of current and run hot. The are susceptible to pixeling at higher altitudes. And they need to be run a hundred hours to prevent burn in from images that are in a fixed continuous position. That being said the best Panasonic's, Samsung s give the best picture. I would suspect for the adverse lighting and wanting low current properties that a 42" LED would be a much better selection for you. Costco has a great selection of LED's to choose from. Go have a look. I would stick with Japanese products unless you plan on trading your coach in soon, then a Chinese product might just fill the bill. Just remember the component parts won't have the life span of the better made Panasonic, LG, and Samsung units. Sharp units can be anywhere from fantastic to so-so and Sony the same. Sharp is now making Pioneers units. TWI Pioneer Elite 151 and 150.

I assume that you have the 42" Panasonic monitor as I had. I replaced mine with a 42" Panasonic LED model TC-L42E50. Sorry, no project photos as it was so straight forward they seemed unnecessary.
Just remove all the brass screws around the perimeter and remove the flat panel that is the ceiling when up, and toward the windshield when down. You now have access to the four attaching machine screws. Remove the monitor.
Now you have to organize your thoughts on attaching cables. I ran three HDMIs backk to the electronics cabinet and a USB and internet connection to the overhead above the driver.
Now, measure very carefully the attachment pattern of the new TV an determine where the holes need to be in order to center the TV on the carriage. Drill, attach, cheer your success. Took me about three hours by myself. With help probably would have been four.

Hey george,

yes have the original psma screen and it is starting to make some noise. Ok, I can do this no problem but it sounds like it doesnt mate into the same holes so I need to make a transition piece. I already ran some a cable to connect a ROKU box, so been need down that road and will probably replace the old bose surround system as well.
