Used Lexa for Sale?

Yahoo Message Number: 6449
I ran across this used 2003 Lexa for sale on the Desert West website.
Described as 2003 45' triple slide Lexa priced to move at $425K.
Don't know what the story is, I'm unaffiliated with this transaction, but found this interesting because it sounds low. Reaction? -- wheeler

Pre-owned Lexa's have turned into the best "bang for the buck" on the market today.

Doug,

I can tell you on my 2000 Magna that the link 2000 that measures the amperage consumed with the disconnects off will use 216 amp hours in 30 days. That averages .3 amps per hour of phantom load. When I leave the disconnect switches on, I consume 3 amps per hour which will burn 216 amps in 3 days. Also remember that AGM batteries take longer to recharge than lead acid. I had a set of AGM batteries in a Foretravel and when they were 5 yrs. old I bought new ones. I set the old ones on my hangar floor. One year later somebody needed a jump start on their car and took one of my old batteries out and it started the car. The moral to the story is that AGMs can really hold a charge when not hooked to anything. Unfortunately the phantom loads on these coaches even with the disconnect switches turned off are a pretty good drain.

I really cannot answer you but from my own problems last winter, and from others responding on this sight, you can assume that there are many phantom loads on our CC's. I had no chance of plugging into power where I was parked. I do have solar panels but ice got over one ft thick last winter and the solar could not do its job. How long your batteries will last is very difficult to answer. Do you have solar? What is the climate where you are located (freezing temps do more damage)? If you can, take a drive monthly which will be good for the batteries and the coach and perhaps for you too! Happily, I do not face these issues this year as we are now fulltiming. Good luck. lews411, I have seen this lexa twice and have been in it both times.
It looks excellent from the outside. I felt the inside was kind of bland. The slides weren't out plus there was nothing in the coach that is there when someone is living in it. As I recall, the floor is all tile and the finish is cherry. I didn't feel the wood work was as nice as it is in my 2003 intrique. The unit had all the whistles and bells and very low mileage. I could not get much more out of Desert West. However, I think if you are a serious buyer they will share everything with you. They have been trying to fix sveral things on my coach. I am rather umpressed with Desert West. Rich 2003 Intrique 11641.

I was at Desert West last Thursday checking on the progress of my '03 Intrique. While there I walked through the Lexa again. A salesman caught up with me. This Lexa was the third off the line. It is owned by a man from Tucson. They got fed up with Beaudry and brought the coach to Phoenix and then decided to sell it and get out of traveling by Motorhome. There is a fancy trailer that matches colors that goes with this. The salesman thought you could get both bought for $425,000 or less. It sounds like the seller is anxious to get rid of this. My guess is that the near prototype rig was so full of bugs the poor guy would rather take a financial bath than continue. Too bad. If he'd hold on for a while things would have worked out like it has for most of us.

My name is Iris and I am seriously thinking about purchasing a Country Coach (Inspire). Does anyone out there in the CC Owners group own an Inspire? They just came out this year and they are very nice looking but I need to talk to someone who already owns an Inspire. Need to know the pros and cons about it. Thanking you in advance for your speedy reply. Also, does anyone know anything about purchasing an RV in another state and registering it in Florida. If I do that, can I bring the RV to California without having to pay some kind of tax again.

Iris: Having spent a good deaal of my earlier life in the car business, here's a tip or two: Sales tax is appropriately paid to the State in which you reside. It is collected at the time of registration of the vehicle.
You should be able to buy a coach most anywhere as a non-resident and receive a temporary permit (license) to drive it home.
Many folks attempt and are successful at paying no tax by taking advantage of some loophole and register the coach in a State where sales tax is not collected. At the risk of offending someone, that's neither legal nor ethical.
Full-timers have a ligitimate argument and reason to register their coach wherever they please and most choose a State where sales tax is not applicable. More power to them.
As for the rest of us, (part-timers with residences) we're obliged to pay sales tax, just like when we buy anything else subject to tax. In my case, it hurt but after signing a non-resident certificate in California when I bought my coach but I shelled out around $10,000 to the State of Utah for the tax on the difference between my old coach and my new one.
You shouldn't ever pay sales tax at the point of sale unless you live in that State.

We attended a CC subgroup rally in Asheville, NC last week, and several folks at the rally said that CC was no longer going to make the Lexa.

This is a bad rumor. CC is making the Lexa, I have a couple of 2004's coming off line, one in Dec and one in March.
